My daughter's phone is dead, but can I use her micro SD card from the phone and use a standard SD Card adapter to use with a cheap mp3 player? That way she can still access her music. Anyone have a suggestion for a cheap mp3 player that will do this? This is all theory, but anyone else done that?

if they arent protected music try the sandisk sansa clip+, its CHEAP and has a microsd slot.

if you have a bit more money a referb fuze(not fuze+) would be good.

and higher end (but far from top of the line/cost) would be the cowon c2.....

it all depends on if the music is protected, alot of the music you buy from a cell phone company is sadly....

Try the SimplyVibe SV-X7 (Black) Premium Rechargeable FM, MP3 Player and Portable Speakers w/ DSP Bass for iPad, iPod, iTouch, iPhone, Laptops (Mac/ PC) and Mobile Devices (10 hr Li Battery) - Accepts USB/Micro SD

This portable speaker will accept micro SD cards. Lots of extra functions too. Very inexpensive!

I also recommend the Sansa Fuze - it's especially good for people who may be more computer-savvy (and even those who aren't) because it can be made to run the special software called Rockbox (easy to find via google) which allows much much better control than the device's normal default software.
Also you could try various Android-type music players, there are some starting to come out now that are basically like an Android Phone (except no phone and no monthly charge), just does wifi-based internet, apps, and can play music - just make sure, if you look into these, that you find one with a MicroSD slot since some of the ones I've seen don't have that (but the future is bright in this regard).
