....and the discussion continues. Why do you think we're still discussing and debating The Beatles and their music and influence, so many years later?

Whether they're your favorites, or you like another artist or band more, everyone is welcome to join the discussion and give your opinion.

The main thing is to relax, have fun and enjoy yourself.

I don't think the band could have guessed in a million billion years what was in store for them when they entered the studio in June 1962. Not even their most wild fantasies of fame and fortune could have possibly matched what actually happened, and continues to happen to this day. Not even close!

I can already see you galloping over the horizon.

I've been trying to think of a title for the new thread. I was in bed and it just suddenly came to me. I tried to go back to sleep, but I couldnt until I came down to the computer to do what I had to do.

I'm about to go back to bed. I'll be back on later.

I guess you could have called it "Tell Me Why?" from their 1964 album "A Hard Day's Night" but then everyone would either ask why what? Or why bother? Or why am I here? Or why not? Or even, why don't we do it in the road?

Hinch,

I like the new title. @ stevign, the Highway Patrol could use the last sentence of your post as a DUI test. I had a hard time reading it!

Hinch,
Good title. Thanks for keeping this going.

Sorry about that Dan, I "was" going to post in in Latin or Sanskrit but thought English might be easier to read. Apparently I was wrong.

I believe you are correct. Some said The Beatles popularity wouldnt last 6 weeks.

I cant recall who, but when The Beatles first arrived at the N.Y. airport in '64, a major network newscaster reported something like "we sent someone to the airport to investigate and found nothing of importance to report."

June of 62? This is very good timing, Hinch, I'm glad you noticed. BTW, how did you know? wow, 50 years... long time to be popular..

Anyone up for a serious discussion of why their songs endure and often float to the top? Academic papers have been more numerous about their compositions than others.

I remember the big cover story of one of the pop music magazines of the day;

"Will Freddy and the Dreamers be bigger than The Beatles?"

Dear Hinch:
so, we are back in "order", are we? (John, Paul, George and Ringo vs. John, George, Paul, and Ringo) poor Ringo, always comes in last!
hey, you all? just walked in the door....had to drive 2 hours up and 2 hours back out towards Sacramento...one of my sister's bday! what a drive! very long, and very boring......
glad we have a new thread, up and running! good job, as usual....
