@vivazappa: I thought "Walk Like A Giant" was the one good jam on the record, so we can agree on that one. "Driftin' Back" bored me to tears!!

"Brick 1 is #3 on my all time favorites list!"

"Thick As A Brick" also came in at #3 on a poll I conducted of the top 25 greatest studio progressive rock albums of all time, over on the prog forum. "Brick 2" had too many songs that were slow and maudlin for my taste.

EDIT: I see on re-checking the thread that you did end up adding a five-album list of your own, but noted that you didn't include "Thick" or "Passion" because you didn't feel Tull was a prog band. I think that, whatever other genres Tull may have played, "Thick" and "Passion" definitely count as definitive prog-rock releases. The band didn't have to be prog their whole career or anything for you to consider them, as the poll was only considering individual albums. If the album is prog, it's a valid entry!

The new Aerosmith album was extremely disappointing to me. All the talk about going back to their hard rocking 70s sound and then they put out an album that sounds just like all their 90s releases. I wish they would release previously unreleased live versions of their 70s material played in the 70s.

When is the new Black Sabbath album coming out?
I hear the first song is called, 'God is Dead'.

I hear it is a reunification of the original lineup.

It's always 5:00 somewhere.

Friedrich Nietzsche was a 19th century philosopher famous for saying "God is dead".

There have been a couple of great albums this year...and many more bad ones, in my opinion. For me, personally, the one I've enjoyed the most is Elysium by Pet Shop Boys. I found it to be a great, sophisticated and experimental electropop album. Yes, I know it's in a different league than Tempest or other albums by well-established rock artists.

King Animal by Soundgarden is also surprisingly great, and the new Aerosmith has grown on me by leaps and bounds.

And while it's FAR from her best work, I'm really enjoying MDNA by Madonna.

I think it was well-played, HFTM; I chuckled, chortled and possibly even guffawed.

MiBoDoCa says:
1) Ian Hunter - When I'm President
2) Alejandro Escovedo - Big Station
3) Dwight Yoakam - 3 Pears
4) John Hiatt - Mystic Pinball
5) Graham Parker and the Rumour - Three Chords Good

I also love the Alabama Shakes album and do like the Dylan. They are not in my toip 5 however.
