I think restrictions on any media product, ESPECIALLY DVDs is stupid.

In the end they're not really impeding the bootleggers, all they're doing is inconviencing legal consumers!

I HATE these new BluRays that the ONLY way to get through the previews is to fast scan through them. Hitting menu and even chapter stops doesn't work, so you are forced to scan through them again and again and again.

And my BluRays don't remember where you were like my regular DVD players does, so that futher complicates things!

REAL fun several years in the future when you wanna watch your movie again and have to suffer through previews for movies you don't care about...that are now years old!!!

#@*^%$#^ Marketers!

I asked in the Help forum about the restrictions. The restrictions are set in place by the studios of the albums. In this global, digital age I think that such restrictions are rather ridiculous. I now have a much better understanding of why some people download music etc. illegally. I hope someday there will be a legal universal mp3 site that doesn't restrict music based on geographic location. Music shouldn't be limited to just one country.

Will do Stephen.

And we may have talked this but....you have the 2 Moog/Way CDs and Sign of 4....right?

JP-Go to his website and you can checkout snippets of songs from the new album. Its called Bridge The Gap and will be released in the UK Dec 2 and in the US Jan 7. The band is called Michael Schenker's Temple Of Rock(Just like the last album/dvd). Hopefully a US tour in Winter or Spring 2014. Other than Phil Mogg I'm not interested as much in the singer who's with Schenker as I am the rest of the band.

Stephen -

Temple of Rock is the BluRay I bought this past April, original release date was in 2012. (Doogie hasn't aged well, also recently got the 1995 Rainbow RockPalast DVD).

Outstanding concert and highly recommended!! Better than his 30th anniversary DVD with Gary Barden, Simon Phillips and Chris Glenn. (Though also essential for long-time Schenker fans)

Schenker, Michael - Temple Of Rock: Live In Europe [Blu-ray]

Searched and didn't see anything new under the same title, just the 2011 CD with the all-star line-up (William Shatner? Lol).

Temple Of Rock

Wonder if he's taking the same line-up back on the road. Though he RARELY comes south!! : (

Bob River's A Twisted Christmas....classic. Funny and clean enough for granma!!

Wait a minute, what am I saying?!??! I recently became a granpa myself! lol

I would like to get Ronan's album as an MP3 copy because there are couple of songs I'm not too thrilled about and it would be cheaper to cherry-pick what I like. Amazon US doesn't have it as an MP3 but Amazon UK does. However, because of geographic restrictions, I'm unable to purchase MP3 music from the UK store. It's the same way with iTunes and other major digital retailers I've tried.

That sounds like a beautiful CD.

The next Christmas CD that I might be purchasing is "Christmas" by Francesca Battistelli.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 12, 2013 11:52:19 AM PST
A Christmas CD I'm thinking about getting is:

Ronan Keating - Winter Songs

The album title is misleading, as only about half of the songs have anything to do with Christmas or winter. Rather I would consider it a collection of beautiful ballads recorded with an orchestra, classic in style and contemplative.

JP-Schenker's band will be called Temple Of Rock & along with Schenker and Findley, Bucholtz and Rarebell they will have Doogie White (ex Rainbow) on vocals.

Thank you for your reply Amy. I have three of the four Christmas CDs that you recently bought, with Kelly Clarkson's "Wrapped In Red" being the first Christmas CD that I've purchased this fall.

Amy,

Give these a try, if you've never heard them.

The Season for Romance
Making Spirits Bright

They are a couple of my favorites.

Newest Christmas CDs I've bought:

The Carpenters - Christmas Portrait
Enya - And Winter Came
Susan Boyle - I'll Be Home For Christmas
Kelly Clarkson - Wrapped In Red

I consider myself to be an old music soul in a young body. With a few exceptions, most new singers I prefer to listen to I consider to be nostalgia singers, such as Josh Groban or Michael Buble.

New Schenker? Always looking forward to anything from him though, these days, you never know what you're gonna get.

Got his recent Bluray, the one where the Scorpions Rhythm section (Bucholtz/Rarebell) was backing him. Very good DVD!

Another thing about Schenker; with the exception of keyboardist/rhythm guitarist Wayne Findley, you never know who Schenker's gonna be working with.

NP - nothing, news is on (checking the weather), but got some new music on the MP3 for my morning walk - Green Carnation, Karnivool, Haken.

Amy,

What Christmas music have you bought recently?

Grandpa Tom says:
Kacey Musgraves-Same Trailer, Different Park
Holly Williams-The Highway
Civil Wars
Low Highway-Steve Earle
Annie Up-Pistol Annies
Volcano Choir-Repave

Proof that original top-quality songwriting, production, instrumentation, engineering, and most of all-performance is alive, well, and flourishing.

All the best,
GT

jpl: No such a thing as a best record exists. It's all opinions. Most of what's stated in these forums are opinions.
