Another thread mentioned that The Ramones were influenced by the Beach Boys and after a few listens to "Rocket To Russia" (the people down the block complained!) I'll agree with that one. It sounds weird but it's true!

Anthony,
The Everly Brothers were before the Beach Boys.

Jay,
'Pale and Precious' sounds a lot like 'Hero's and Villains'.

"It's nice to be nice" by Pugwash - Brain Wilson contacted them to tell them how much he liked it and how it reminded him of The Beach Boys.

Everly Brothers have that Beach Boy quality, to me.

Yeah, Henry Gross was good but you can hear his influences very clearly.
The same thing goes for America.

Good call on Henry Gross. I've always thought his music sounded like a Beach Boys spin-off act. (Not a bad thing. I LIKE Henry Gross!).

Barnaby Bye - The Allesi brothers are dead ringers for The BB. I liked Barnaby Bye's first (Room to Grow) but the rest was a little light for my taste. They sure can harmonize though. Listen to "Marsha Mamaillia" -one of my favorites think 'Wild Honey and "Laneya" - think The Sunflower album. Listen and let me know if you concur. Joe D

I have a nice compilation called The Warmth Of The Sun: Songs Inspired By The Beach Boys. Some artists on it have already been mentioned, but I don't remember seeing Yellow Balloon by Yellow Balloon. Also Jeffrey Foskett, who's in Brian Wilson's band has a great song called Thru My Window which lifts the keyboard part from I Know There's An Answer.

And I can't leave out Chalkhills and Children by XTC.

Driven Around by The Raspberries and At My Most Beautiful REM. The REM song sounds like a long lost Pet Sounds track.

The High Llamas for sure. Have you ever heard The Pearlfishers (Scotland, I believe)? There's a lot of Brian Wilson's influence in their stuff as well...

I'm partial to the Surfsider's BB tribute album. Very inspired, a masterpiece.
