Listened once more to one of my favorite bootleg discs this morning.

"Live At the Fillmore 1968" ~ The Who
This one was recorded for a live album that never happened and the band is playing like demons.

I have absolutely *no* idea what previous posts have said and am not looking at them until after I post this one. So there's probably a lot of redundancies between mine and the others but these are some of my favorite live albums. I'm counting official live releases and live archival releases--basically anything officially released that comes from a soundboard.

Live At Leeds (single or deluxe version)--The Who
Live At The Isle Of Wight--The Who
Magma Live--Magma
Bless Its Pointed Little Head--Jefferson Airplane
The Woodstock Experience--Jefferson Airplane
Ummagumma (live disc)--Pink Floyd
Live At Carnegie Hall (on the "Stand Up" deluxe edition)--Jethro Tull
Live 1969--Simon And Garfunkel
Sunshine Daydream--The Grateful Dead
Fillmore, June 7 1968--Quicksilver Messenger Service
Gratitude--Earth, Wind And Fire
How The West Was Won--Led Zeppelin
Lotus--Santana
Ziggy Stardust: The Motion Picture Soundtrack--David Bowie
Live Inside The Dark Globe (bonus disc on "Aeroplane Flies High" deluxe box set)--The Smashing Pumpkins

I think that this new release would have been regarded as a classic if it was released back in the 70s, and probably gained more respect for the band outside of just the deadhead fanbase. Grateful Dead - Sunshine Daydream (Veneta, OR, 8/27/72)(3xCD+DVD)

Oh yeah, and this one: Bad Company Live Albuquerque NM,USA 1976

Nice call out on Hard Rain. Backstory is they were committed to playing the show because of TV commitment regardless of the weather. It was pouring and all the musicians had problems staying in tune.

I agree with many of the posts and would add;
The Cure- Concert
They've done more than one mediocre live album. This, their first one, is pretty good. The live version of Charlotte Sometimes is loads better than the studio take.

Most of my faves have been mentioned (Irish Tour 74, On your feet..., Live at Leeds etc) but these are 2 more to add to the list

The Road Goes Ever On - Mountain (only 4 tunes but all great - version of Long Red is very unlike the studio take and a killer version of Nantucket Sleighride)
The Complete Live at Raji's - Dream Syndicate (my brother turned me on to this and it has become an all time favorite - check it out)
