Hi, I have a question: if you could recommend only one live release by this group - which would it be and why? I'm looking for some extended instrumental psychedelic guitar work a decent quality live setting.

there is a re release of the rainbow concert from 78. though its way past their prime its still a great listen and of good sound quality, same can be said for the rockpalast cd/dvd. sadly they never recorded a official live album with the original band.

"I Got a Line on You" of the all-time great signature guitar riffs. 'Dr. Sardonicus' of the all-time great albums.

Big Spirit fan here! The only live cd I have is the Rockpalast concert. It is very good and it has a 16 minute plus version of It's All The Same and 17 minute plus song called If I Miss This Train/Rockpalast Jam. Great recording. You can also get a dvd of the concert.

I have every record they have made from the 1st Spirit album until Tales From the Westies..recent live album...!1st show I ever went too, Fillmore East 1969, Bonzo Dog Band, The Kinks and Spirit....I have seen them in all forms 15 times (even with the Stahaely Brothers...even Feedback is a real good album without Randy!). MY favorite after Dr Sardonicus albums are Farthur Along,Rapture in the Chamber and Spirit of '76..but do like to love all of them! I wrote an e-mail to Jay Ferguson, they could relistically re-form even without Randy and make a nice tribute album..
Jay ferguson
Matt Andes
John Locke---he died in 2006!
Ed Cassidy---he is in his '80s
The staelly Brothers
Rachel Andes
and others!

on board cap'n the first 4 are stone classics and 1977's FARTHER ALONG is damn close. heres something few spirit fans are aware of. The same line up that appeared on spirit's FEEDBACK lp also appear on THE STAHAELY BROTHERS. the latter has never been issued on cd, but shreds the mediocre FEEDBACK, and should not be missed

I love Spirit of 76 my favorite by them. Drenched in echo and phase shifter...I love that stuff! The CD needs a remaster though.

Jason...It's a self-titled lp?
I would be interested in of the Stahaely Bros was a member of the last incarnation of Jo Jo Gunne(The Show Must Go On)...they seemed to be all connected....

Love the box set from Rhino. The song Dark Eyed Woman is a classic.

Geezerguy says:
The first four albums with the original line-up were the best Spirit had to offer, but I've always had a special place in my heart for Son of Spirit, Made in Germany, and Live Spirit. And yes, Feedback is solid. I wish the Stahaely Brothers album would be released on CD. I have it on vinyl and it's quite good.
