"At L Turner"? Sounds like ghetto speak to me. Here's another qualifier for how great public school education educates. More time spent at your public library can't hurt.

The southerners had the slaves and they were Democrats. LBJ made welfare what it has become. These are faithful voters for the Demoncat party. We finally have a liberal black president with his gang of pals doing their best to dismantal America at a rapid progression. 4 more years of Obummer and his pals should finish sinking the American boat for ever as a great nation. Thanks for nothing Dem's and RINO Repubes.

Barack Obama is ALSO white. Why do people forget this? Hes not really black he is mixed. But that is off topic. He is not helping our country at all. Hes not just a liberal. Hes a socialist and a complete narcissist! People complained about Dubya. Well I long for him after these days we're in!

I'm sorry my post was deleted, I'm not sure why (can't remember if I used bad language), but I'll try again, making it shorter and leaving out all the product links.

The Rev. David Noebel used to write about this subject back in the 60s. He has several books about the evils of rock, and you can look them all up right here on amazon. Rock music warps our kids' minds, hypnotizing them with "the beat" and suppressing the higher functions of the brain. He spends half the book ranting about Lou Christie's "Rhapsody in the Rain" because it's about *gasp* doing it!

What he did was very thoughtful. He carefully listed the names of the songs he found offensive or which fit the description of what he was talking about. You could get quite an education on sex, drugs and revolution just listening to the songs he named. Among them of course are "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds", "Yellow Submarine", ""Glass Onion", "Revolution 9", "The Pusher Man" (I assume he meant 'The Pusher' by Steppenwolf, which is an *anti*-drug song), "The Wichita Falls" (keep in mind this was 1966, long before Metheny's *ahem* seminal progressive album. Does he mean "Wichita Lineman"?), "Get Off My Cloud" (you just think it's about materialism -- it's really about pot!), "Ten Thousand Light Years From Here" (I think he means the Stones' "2000 Light Years From Home" on Their SATANIC Majesties Request!), "Yellow Balloon", "Voyage into the Golden Screen" (he miswrites it as "Voyage Into Golden Scream" -- boy, I'd love to hear that one), "Straight Shooter", "Willy and the Rubber Band" (clearly Willie and the Red Rubber Band), "You Turn Me On", "You've Got Me High", and "I'm a Believer", which he quotes some moral guardian as saying "Better than half of all pop music is inspired by LSD experience. The Monkees' number, 'I'm a Believer', is ostensibly a love song, but we all know it refers to drugs." Wow!

The reason why few mention Obama's white side is because he doesn't himself unless it's to bash it. I'd have had a tremendous lot more respect for the man had he come onto the scene by saying he's the culmination of the civil rights movement being both black and white but he didn't do that. Instead he played the race card to get ahead and used black people to vote for him. When both Barrack and his wife said they didn't think of themselves as being black until they were in college I fail to see how they understand you just because "they look like us". Hitler and Stalin were white guys. Does that mean they understood all white guys because they were white? People are different because of their experiences, not due to the color of their skin and I find people voting for a candidate BECAUSE of his skin color to be just as offensive as those who vote AGAINST him because of his skin color.

Hey, if somebody would do me a favor and next time you post could you add a note to member JBug that I wasn't referring to him in an earlier post in this thread? I would be most grateful. I believe he may have clicked 'Ignore' on me after I believe he read a post and may have thought it was all intended for him. I answered another poster and told him he could easily click 'ignore' so my words would trouble him no more. I also addressed JBug in the second part by name thanking him for an earlier post he'd (or she) had left. Immediately after that post he left one that was something about "the sound of him clicking 'Ignore' ". That's why I think he may have misunderstood me and if he (or she) has me on ignore, my apology/explanation will never get seen. I don't mind if somebody (Chen) gets angry at me or dislikes me for whatever reason, but I do feel bad when it's based on a mistake.

J.H. ~All is okay. I didn't misunderstand and you are not on "ignore." I corrected the aforementioned message to avoid confusion, but you probably didn't notice it. Sorry. The "ignore" is for E.P. This guy just likes to provoke people to get attention.

@ JBug -Thanks for clearing that with me. Like I said, I don't mind being hated on as long as it's achieved honestly!

I'm not sure if it was the same guy, but in another thread here somebody did much the same thing: waded chest deep into the middle of a conversation and proceeded to expound his/her point of view. It was obvious the same thing happened here- a flimsy excuse was used to start stating how he/she saw things. That like this, went to politics / religion in microseconds and it was clear the author was not interested in anything about music but just seeking some people to put a soap-box down before.

Just to clarify about mt friend dave- he didn't stop being a Christian or anything like that. He freed himself from the constant berating he felt he got throughout his whole life about always being a sinner and no matter what he did it would remain that way. He had begun to live his life according to what he believed would give his fellow church group and family the 'correct' perception of who and what he was. Somewhere in the process I think he actually lost himself somewhere in the person he created and the person he really was. It took him a long time before he finally decided he was 'worth' something and admitted that he was a good and decent guy. That was what he freed himself from.

I second that, F. Nicholson. I don't get what politics has to do with this music topic.

However, since it was brought up, I'll add in my two cents:

A centrist site I read says that Obama is a centrist or moderate:
http://thepragmaticcenter.com/essay/what-obama-centrist-liberal-or-socialist

As the site says, that is obvious given the fact that the left-wing of the Democratic party is frustrated with a majority of the president's policies.

I've seen that frustration myself on many left-wing blogs I've read.

Triumph did some great Christian themed songs like "Hold On" and "Fight the Good Fight" in the 70's and 80's earning them the title the good guys of Heavy Metal. They have some of the most uplifting lyrics I have ever heard in rock. Great music for modivation and always makes me appriciate what God has given me and influences me to be better and that it is all worth it.

I love posts like this..its nice to have a bit of comedy every now and then. So here is my contribution to this humorous forum.
The op has it all wrong. Its not rock music that the devil hath spawned but "musical" acts like Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Glee(come on really?), and I could name a hundred more, but I thinks its safe to say the top 40 has been regurgitated from hell courtesy of the upset stomach of the devil. But the devil's REAL masterpiece is Jimmy Buffet. I can't think of anyone whose music is more hellish or frightening.

L. Turner says:
If you smell a little closer, you will find that those to the left can't make their case very well in our now very real economic situation which was greatly fueled by the Dem's. Bush 2 wanted NOTHING to do with 0-10% downn teaser loans offered to people who could never pay the money back. If you sniff any leftist you will smell the stench of socialism anywhere you sniff them. Socialism ends when other peoples money runs out. Take the wealth from the rich and the country will be back to where we now are in less than a year. Dem's are socialists who have an agenda to take America down and they will use the Constitution anywhere they can to bring America down. If anyone thinks that a new world order will fix the money and social problems which are bringing the world down, they have anti-Christ as their leader. Socialism always fails 100% of the time given enough time to do so.

I happily admit that Pat Boone's metal covers CD sits in my collection next to a number of Mojo Nixon CD's...so does that mean I'm mental? ;)

Herman Cain looked to be the guy to beat Obummer in the next election but he was hounded like Clarence Thomas until he caved. Talk about hateful Dem lib's! Got to keep them Uncle Toms on the plantation designed for blacks to keep them in their proper PC plantation place. I'm no brain surgeon but understood people like LBJ were poison to the country when I was only 7 years of age. There are too many people who are allowed to vote that have not the required brains to vote for what is best for the majority of Americans. People on welfare should not be allowed to vote for the party that will give them the most free-be's.
