My favorite classical piece is Rachmaninoff's Piano Concert No. 2 in C minor, but I also like Tchaikovsky's Pathetique.

As you can see, I like Russian classical composers.

They sure like their bottom end, and being a cellist, you'd appreciate that.

Are you saying that you haven't heard the lost cello concert, but still consider it one of your faves? I might be misinterpreting you here, but I admit a little confusion.

I'm listening to WKAR from East Lansing, Michigan online. I live in California, but this is the greatest classical radio station I've ever heard. At this moment, they're playing Schubert's "Trout" Quintet.

Sorry for the delay in replying - had to earn a living for a few hours. My operatic tastes are very plebeian. I like the Italians - Puccini, Verdi, Mascagni, Bellini. But Handel makes a nice crisp contrast to their romanticism. This year I have seen "I Capuleti e i Montecchi" (very pretty) and "The Magic Flute" (production was all over the place). I also have tickets to "Aida", "Cosi Fan Tutte" and "A Streetcar Named Desire" - all productions by Opera Australia. When it comes to listening I still love the De Los Angeles & Bjorling rendition of "La Boheme" but I have just ordered a budget highlights album by Tebaldi (my favourite soprano) & Bergonzi. I also love the recent "La Traviata" by Villazon and Netrebko. Also Verdi's Requiem - I have the Gheorghiu/Alagna version conducted by Claudio Abbado. As I said, very plebeian tastes.

What's wrong with saying "fingering an F-hole?" The F-hole is part of a cello.

Come on, you little Amazonian message-vetters, don't be fascist little prigs.

Lots of negative votes above - seems like someone thinks classical music and opera don't belong in the "Music Community".
