Jersey Joker says:
Oh, yeah, Dan. After learning about him, his pathetic career as a guy who THINKS he's a musician, and his racist behavior, I definitely get a kick out of busting some balls. But it was a relatively short distraction; Hinch actually sums up really well how I feel about the whole thing.
Although, I may very well find myself checking back out of curiosity.

So, more power to you!

Strat, RE:
"Maybe his Alabama Wal-Mart tour got extended due to overwhelming indifference??"

I could easily see how that could happen.

Hinch says:
I agree his threads stand for things I don't support. I get tired of the black/white thing, but then he's not the only one who does that. There's nothing I dislike more than racism and stereotypes. I get tired of the 'good music vs bad music' thing he seems to be obsessed with. I don't spend much energy putting down music I don't like. Also, I get bored with all the 'clever' insults, no matter how much he may deserve them. It just seems a waste of time.

I haven't heard of a sighting in weeks! I don't agree with Hinch and Jersey Joker. I like poking fun at Mead and while his threads always stand for something that I don't support, I like that so many of the thread writers come to his sites just to put him in his place. He also cracks me up! It's a two way street to me, he wants attention and I am more than willing to oblige him!

Speak o' the devil, has anybody heard from EP Haufe/Meade Skelton/Elvis Fan/RVA CountryLover lately?? He's been mysteriously absent the last couple weeks. I sure hope we didn't say something to offend!

Any speculation? Maybe his Alabama Wal-Mart tour got extended due to overwhelming indifference??

Hopefully!

I got bored with all his threads. It was kinda fun for a while. lol!

Jersey Joker says:
True, Hinch.

It'd probably be a good idea for those who are "in the know" to totally ignore any further posts of his. Sure, there'll be a few unsuspecting surfers who'll get sucked into the vortex, but maybe ... eventually ... HOPEFULLY ... he'll just fade away.

I don't know ... just a thought.

Hinch says:
>why anybody would just sit there and keep listening to this guy is SO beyond me<

Almost as mysterious as why people keep giving him so much attention, which is what he wants, whichever of his many monikers he's using at any given time.

Jersey Joker says:
Jacky,

This guy Meaden Skankton is no one that I was familiar with until I stumbled across this discussion (and now I understand he uses several different monikers -- some of you guys have pointed that out).

And "your old pal Jacky" was, I THOUGHT, possibly a reference to Jacky The Jokeman from The Howard Stern Show!

At any rate, NOW I am a bit more enlightened about WHO this guy Meade is, and how sorry I am that I KNOW who he is! : /

Obviously everybody else (including newcomers such as gusula) feel the same way.

I got a kick out of his video for "coffeehouse country" (or WHATEVER it's called); everybody sitting there appears to be completely dis-interested in what he's doing. Fascinating stuff, and he's an incredible bore -- why anybody would just sit there and keep listening to this guy is SO beyond me (unless of course, those are all family members just trying to support their cousin ... )

"Why didn't anybody warn me?"

We all had to go through our Meade hazing. It's a rite of passage here on these threads.
I only hope you haven't cut yourself, or anything drastic like that.

I love the Amazon forums... I just checked out Meade Skelton for the first time myself. Why didn't anybody warn me? Apparently he has an album called "Can't Keep Me Down," which is appropriate because after watching a few of his videos I'm having all kindsa trouble keeping him down, along with this afternoon's lunch...

Jersy Joker,
I thought "you're just jealous of his talent" would be a dead give away.

Meade Skelton is constantly saying that in third person.

Keep living the dream Meade, keep living the dream.....

by the way "your old pal Jacky" references a bit sarcasm....

R. Harris says:
you nailed it. CCD is a fantastic band, great on CD and much better in person. They put on a great show, and are very un-apologetic about their name and the fact that they play music from pre-Civil War black America and the horrible "Reconstruction" period that followed, when indigenous black music was usurped by black-face minstrels and thereby became lost to many black Americans.
They are a great show to see, playing traditional instruments with real talent, are very entertaining, and yes are very black in spirit and fact, and un-apologetically so. One of only two black 'string' bands (read that banjo, fiddle, upright bass and mandolin) in America today. A real shame that that is so.
I highly recommend their CD's and shows if you have any taste for folk, roots music, jug-band or just a great current band. Rhiannon the singer has a great voice, and all are studious multi-instrumentalists with great musical pedigrees.
(their music is to some extent the "Piedmont" style, not technically bluegrass)
