MiBoDoCa says:
It sounds like a classic to me. One of the best of all time. Why it's not listed more is a mystery to me. What a great album! Where's the deluxe edition already?

Joyce says:
Dearest Eddie:
oh, yes.....you know me so well......it is, indeed..... :)
Eddie,
Where are you going? I don't mind....
I've killed my world, and I've killed my time.
So where do I go; what do I see?
I see many people coming after me.
So where are you going to? I don't mind...
If I live too long, I'm afraid I'll die,
so I will follow you, wherever you go,
if your offered hand is still open to me.....
Strangers on this road we are on;
we are not two, we are one.....
So you've been where I've just come;
from the land that brings losers on.....
So, we will share this road we walk,
and mind our mouths, and beware our talk,
'till peace we find..... Tell you what I'll do;
all the things I own, I will share with you,
and if I feel tomorrow, like I feel today,
we'll take what we want, and give the rest away.....
Strangers on this road we are on;
we are not two, we are one....
Holy man and holy priest;
this love of life makes me weak at my knees,
and when we get there, make your play,
'cos soon I feel you're gonna carry us away,
in a promised lie you made us believe.
For many men there is so much grief,
and my mind is proud, but it aches with rage,
and if I live too long, I'm afraid I'll die!
Strangers on this road we are on;
we are not two, we are one.....
Strangers on this road we are on;
we are not two, we are one................. :)
love,
joyce :)
p.s., remember that.... :)

Joyce....you know how to pick 'em.
What a great under rated tune from the great "Lola" LP
Love "Strangers" & "Get Back In Line" too "He's man who decides if I live or I die or I starve or I eat"

XXXOOO....ES.

Joyce, Was "Strangers" used in the "Darjeeling Ltd" soundtrack?

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 15, 2012 1:01:52 PM PST
Joyce says:
Dear EvenSteven:
yes! so were other many great songs, but that one is my favorite! i also LOVE the movie SO MUCH! don't know if you have seen it, but it's a bit quirky and strange....sort of like Napoleon Dynamite, but with 3 brothers, instead of two, and older, and in India, trying to find themselves (as 20 somethings/30 somethings) and their 'place' in life/their family, rather than in high school! very very good movie!!! if you haven't already seen it, do so, quick, and if you have, see it again! :)
love,
joyce :)

"Powerman" from the Lola album, also appears on the soundtrack.

"This Time Tomorrow" is one of my favorites.

Thanks Joyce I did see "Darjeeling" & yeah I am a fan of all those quirky Murray flix (Lost In Translation, Tenanbaums, Rushmore etc....still want to see Moonrise Kingdom), I remember a Kinks song or 2 from "Darjeeling" & couldnt think of what was used & then I thought how genius it was to pull that obscure #!...It made me appreciate that song like I never had.
Good call Bernard, re "This Time" aye that's a lovely tune....truly there's no other band I like getting piss drunk to than the Kinks
(God save em)....peace all.

Moonrise Kingdom was cute, quirky movie...I liked it...did not see the other Wes Andersons other movies....This Time Tomorrow is a outright beautiful song...Lola Vs powerman is such a great mixture of hard rock, beautiful ballads..music hall...

Gena Chereck says:
Hi all! :)

I have a whole Kinks playlist (150 songs or so) on Grooveshark -- it's got the 'Face to Face', 'Something Else', 'Village Green Preservation Society', 'Arthur', 'Lola vs. Powerman', and 'Muswell Hillbillies' albums in their entirety, plus a slew of tracks from both before and after that whole period.

In think 'Village Green' might be my favorite of the bunch, but 'Lola' does have some great stuff on it ("This Time Tomorrow" and "A Long Way from Home," especially).

Great playlist Gena.....that is the Golden Age....I do like the early stuff quite a bit too....they were as good as ANY of their competitors right out of the gate.
