Stephen, I just read this about Marshall Crenshaw's upcoming dates:

"Something's Going To Happen" as Marshall Crenshaw returns with full band - The Bottle Rockets - to perform familiar favorites including the Top 40 hit "Someday, Someway" plus "Mary Anne," "Cynical Girl" and "Whenever Your On My Mind." Portraying John Lennon in "Beatlemania" and Buddy Holly in "La Bamba," Marshall's songs were covered by the likes of Gin Blossoms ("Till I Hear It from You") and Bette Midler ("You're My Favorite Waste Of Time"), Ronnie Spector, Robert Gordon and Freedy Johnston.

In addition to backing Marshall, Festus, Missouri's Bottle Rockets open the show. Some of their concert favorites include "Alone In Bad Company," "I'll Be Comin' Around," "Gravity Fails" and "Radar Gun."

"Mr. Crenshaw's songs seem to roll off the guitar in a casual blend of pre-1970s styles - folk-rock, surf-rock, country and above all the Beatles - that put melody first." - New York Times

Randy, I had no idea he portrayed Buddy Holly in La Bamba. I DID know he was John Lenon in Beatlemania. I recall me and a buddy going to catch the EL to go see Beatlemania here in Philly (before I ever knew who Crenshaw was) and the El was out of service and we never made it! Why Marshall Crenshaw never had huge commercial success is beyond me. I guess power pop or whatever you want to call it just was not hip at the time but like The Raspberries I always thought many of his singles had enormous commercial appeal and potential.
