I'm amazed at the odd choices and shallow responses to this question. Doesn't anyone have a pulse anymore? What happened to genuine emotion? Or is this all for show

I don't know about the others here, but the reasoning I gave for my choice is genuine emotion. The song I mentioned about, I heard on radio at the time my aunt passed away in 2009. The lyrics of the song made me think of how much I missed her. Grieving for a loved one is not a shallow response.

Adam Lamebert singing Queen made me want to cry too. And no, this isn't a mindless pot-shot. I really thought he sounded very ordinary, not worthy of singing the great songs of Queen.

Who do you suggest would have been better at singing the very difficult Queen music? Out of every other male singer on the planet Brian and Roger chose Adam for their mini tour to Kiev, Moscow, Wroclaw and London and THEY were very pleased with the audience response!

Well, for one, I thought George Michael's performances with the remaining members of Queen in 1992 were infinitely better than what I heard from the clips I saw of Adam Lambert. And I'm no George Michael fan, you can believe that, but I at least felt like there was some power, clarity and "oomph" to his voice, none of which I heard in Lambert's performances. I honestly watched the clips expecting him to be really good, because how can one NOT hear all the hype around this guy...

So, I expected to have to admit that he did a good job (as I did with George Michael), but... he just didn't. That's my own opinion. As to May/Taylor, if they were pleased, so be it. Wouldn't be the first time I've disagreed with them. Frankly, I think they should pack in the "Queen" name and resume with solo careers and dignity intact. Ask John Deacon about that.

I like the Queen + Paul Rodgers album "The Cosmos Rocks" but Paul doesn't have the range of Freddie Mercury. They dedicated the album to him.

Not a good comparison because the Adam version was taken by an amateur and the sound isn't very good:

Adam -- Somebody To Love

George Michael -- Somebody To Love -- Freddie Tribute Concert
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYAR8RigqDA

There's hardly anything "ordinary" about Adam Lambert and his singing.

carolb57: Lemmy would have been a better choice then Lambert
(I got your back on this one zlh.)

And I was very unimpressed with the Rogers/Queen record and show...but then I saw Freddie thrice!!!
