It's so ironic that the genius who suffered through so many mental, emotional and physical traumas is the last surviving Wilson brother. And it's wonderful that he's performing onstage with the BB's once again. From what I've read, the shows have been fantastic.

Along with all the early classic hits and "deep" album tracks, 'Pet Sounds' will remain one of the cornerstones of the sixties, and one of the ten greatest rock/pop albums ever created. Brian's 2004 release of the finally-finished 'Smile' album was wonderful as well.

Paul McCartney turning 70 on June 18th and Brian Wilson turning 70 on June 20th...marvelous to see.

Love Brian Wilson and the great Beach Boys music he has produced over the years. The new BB album is very very good, produced by Brian. Get it if you haven't heard it yet.

Robert, I can't believe that Brian and Macca have never collaborated (except Paul munching carrots for SMiLE, supposedly), although they have talked about it over the years. I wonder if they could produce a masterpiece, or whether they would just crash from too much talent in the same room?

Bob Bykowski says:
Dr. Mikey,

Yeah, it is surprising that Brian and Macca have never collaborated, especially when each is a major fan of one another. Paul has publicly said that he considers "God Only Knows" one of the most beautiful, if not THE most beautiful, songs ever written.

One thing is (almost) for sure: the collaboration would probably be much more satisfying than Paul and Michael Jackson or Paul and Stevie Wonder turned out to be.

Eddie H. says:
Robert...They collaborated once, on Brian's album Gettin' In Over My Head, they do a duet called A Friend Like You....to me it's Brian's weakest solo album, the title track is great though, and some good songs...Eric Clapton is on it, he plays lead guitar on a song City Blues and there is a duet with Elton John too...

Bob Bykowski says:
Sometimes these collaborations work and sometimes they don't. I was very surprised at how good the songs turned out to be that Macca and Elvis Costello worked on together on Paul's 'Flowers in the Dirt' album, for example. I would have never suspected that those two could turn out to be a success as a team.

Even in birth order poor Brian has to follow the Beatles. Wasn't Smile after Sgt. Pepper crushing enough?

Now come on. That's mildly clever.
