Crappy garage bands that never got a record contract because they didn't deserve one

Perhaps it was your marketing. It's always better to say you're a great "garage" band as opposed to a great "basement" band. That way you don't have to answer all those embarrassing questions of what you boys were doing down there all alone in the dark?

You should really leave Mooching up to to the Minnie. Besides, she was a red hot hoochie-koocher.

I can't list them because I've never heard of them.

That's ok, I didn't ask for a list.

L M F A O !

and a lead singer with a lisp? Classic!
You may have the makings of a movie script there.

Or at least a Reality series on tv.

Glad you got a kick out of that, Strat. Much of what I posted was of course made up, but I really did play in a slightly bizarre little band called "Mental Tourists" (my very first "real" band when I was 19), we really did practice in a, well, not a "shed" but an un-airconditioned storage room (and this was in Texas, so... yeah; BRUTALLY hot) and yes, our lead singer really did have a lisp. We went nowhere for a good 18mos. before members started moving on, but even though I've played in much more professional bands that made good money, toured and 1 that came close to getting signed, that was probably the most fun I had through it all. And even though I did a fair amount of recording with several of the bands I've been in, a crude little 5-song demo "Mental Tourists" cut is pretty much the only stuff of all of it that I still go back and listen to for sheer pleasure.

Re, a MOVIE, yeah, I've thought once or twice about combining some of the funnier, more surreal moments from all of my experiences since I started playing music 25 years ago and some equally funny experiences I've been told about by some of the people I've played with into one book or script to see if it might actually amount to anything anyone else might be interested in, but then I remember somebody else already did it and called it "This Is Spinal Tap", and frankly I don't think that'll ever be topped!

Ahh, yes, Ray Wylie. Saw him do this one live a few years ago at Willie's picnic in Ft Worth. Willie, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Bob Dylan, Doobie Bros and others. Good show. Hadn't heard that perfromance though, so thanks for posting.
