Most of our favorite artists output is far and inbetween(they are old), for years i have been sourcing out new artists who's music I like but who are also excellent singers and songwriters, I found a few artist recently who fit the bill, check them out they are quite good,
--The Explorers Club(Their 1st album Wilsonesque, 2nd album add Bacharach
--The Red Button(Beatleesque)
--Seth Swirsky(Watercolor must get this....tremendous album)
these guy fit at least my criteria....I know some of you will like them....check them out
(For people who like Brian Wilson,Paul McCartney, Burt get the idea)

Axel's favorite artists:

Blur, Marvin Gaye, Isley Brothers, R. Kelly, Nas, and Mos Def.

Nice ecclectic mix of artists. I have been getting into NAS over the last few years, especially Distant Relatives. I haven't heard much of Mos Def's hip hop only his poetry. I like his acting though, very good.I'm a big Marvin Gaye fan and a moderate Isly Bros. fan. R. Kelly I have liked for about 10 years as well as Blur, which I have liked since the beginning.

I'm listening to Rumer's new CD Boys Don't Cry. It's wonderful.

Her version of Travellin' Boy has brought me out in goosebumps. This lady's voice is so beautiful. I wish I could sing like Rumer :)

Very nice. Kind of Carpenterish.

Hi Franklin,
Rumer really sounds like Karen on that track. It would be nice if Rumer did a compilation CD of Carpenter's songs.

I would pick:-

This Masquerade
I Won't Last A Day Without You
Hurting Each Other
Sweet Sweet Smile
For All We Know
It's Going To Take Some Time
We've Only Just Begun
Touch Me When We're Dancing

For anyone out there who may have remembered. I just realized this is the anniversary of Montery Pop. On whim 3 of us drove from LA to Monterey. What an incredible 3 days. Jimi Henricks, Janis J., the Who, Otis Redding are my favorite memories - Jimi, well what can one say about seeing him - no words will ever do it justice. And of course, Ravi Shankar - he may have the highlight. The massive crowd never uttered a word. Everyone was caught up in him, his music, and the message it sent. Fond memories.

There is,
cd universe

are these the only reliable less expensive online music outlets....does anybody know others that are reliable and have pre-orders and imports?

In reply to an earlier post on Jun 19, 2012 2:15:31 PM PDT
Rhino pretty good box sets and discounts on cd's old and new
Shout - Lots of box sets on cd's and dvd's and some imports You have to search a lot for cd's, some hard to find discs can be found as well as dvd's; some to bid on, some to buy. Hard to find cd's and dvd's at discount prices.
THe Rock n Roll Movies on dvd's usually half price compared with other sites. Average price 19.99 out of print movies.

Shout Factory is owned by the guys who founded Rhino, Richard Bronson and Harold Foos...they've pretty much stuck to the same philosophy they lived by when they ran Rhino.

In reply to an earlier post on Jun 23, 2012 2:26:20 PM PDT
They have cancelled me twice and both times it was at the same time that I was supposed to receive my product.
