Gary, Isn't America a great country. We have freedom of speech, which you have just used yours, right here on this forum and these artist also have the right to continue doing as they wish and their fans have the right to listen to them or not. I think that is what is so great about our country. Nobody has the right to make decisions for somebody else.

Yes, I noticed the price. I bought it not long after it was released and I had to save for it, but I dont think it was quite as expensive as now. It may be out of print.

I dont really care about the "hit vs lp ratio". I own every Stones album since LET IT BLEED, and several previous. I pretty much buy when they release a new album(or dvd). Certainly they've had their share of not so great albums but I've been fairly satisfied with most. Even their worst has a few very good tracks. Ive seen them 3 times....'73, '78 and '81. From what I have seen from their live dvds, they're always good live and they still draw huge audiences.

I havent been to an actual Stones concert since 1981, but I dont think their audience consists of only "people over 60" and who "wear suits and ties."

Their audience is all ages, but even if what you say is true, what would be the problem if the tickets are selling out? Is an audience of 90,000 people over 60 less valid than a younger audience of 90,000? Can RHCP out sell a Stones concert or tour, or even come close?

Daniel, this forum is about people's opinions.
You've given several about a range of topics that were of interest to you.
Gary, as well as others have come here to give theirs.
Sometimes, those opinions differ...that's the real beauty of these forums.
But never do they, at any time, presume to make decisions for other people.
They are merely opinions and points of view.

How do you know what my best interest is? When I went to your schools? I went to your churches? I went to your institutional learning facilities? So how can you say I'm crazy?

All I wanted was a Pepsi.

I think you should read Gary's text again. He is clearly telling some of these artist what they should do with their careers. How is a suggestion also an opinion? By saying, I think you should do? I agree with you that they are merely opinions and points of view and I was just giving mine...

In reply to an earlier post on Jun 16, 2012 3:55:10 PM PDT
Yes, Daniel....
Indeed you did, as Gary did.
As for him "clearly telling" the artists what they need to do....
I have to ask you in all seriousness...do you think that they heard him? (-:
People come on these forums and wish artists happy birthdays, tell them they love them,
they hate them, their last CD was trash, they don't deserve to be in the rock and roll HOF,
and on & on....But they're expressing themselves, they are venting, along with
millions of other satisfied or dissatisfied individuals around the world....who cares man?
It's all opinions & points of view, and if you think that any artist
or person of importance within the entertainment industry is swayed
by any of these forums in the least...then WOW!! (-:
It's not that serious man....I assure you.
When I started this topic, I knew that there were going to be people who
would disagree and express it...and it's okay.
There would also be people who agree...and that's okay too.

In reply to an earlier post on Jun 16, 2012 4:06:49 PM PDT
He says ...who cares man?

I would suggest that you care. I do not think that any artist is swayed by what is posted on these threads. That would be rediculous. If its ok for people to feel one way or the other regarding this topic then why do you have such a problem with how I feel?

Oh Daniel....(SMH) I know you meant *ridiculous*, but that's beside the point.
Whatever gave you that impression?--I don't have an issue at all.
You are the one that's getting all worked up, it seems.
I'm merely trying to make you understand the absurdity of all this.
You are the one that seems to have a problem with people not
coming around to the way you see things or at least opposing you...not me.
It seems to me that Gary's post, and perhaps I guess, even a few
of my posts have aroused your anger...that's unfortunate, if that is indeed
the case...but alas, life will go on, and everyone will see things as they see them.
I hope that cleared things up for you sir! (-:
Good Evening To You...

P.S.>> I love the way you brought America and the right to free speech into
your initial reply to Gary's post, and then got annoyed with me over condoning
free expression...Forgive me if I got a bit of a chuckle from that. (-:
But did it make me angry or even annoyed? Ummm, never.

In reply to an earlier post on Jun 16, 2012 4:46:50 PM PDT
Hey Funk, I am not annoyed with anyone. Thank you for the spelling lesson. Anger... you are making me laugh! I don't get angry. No need to call me Sir as it sounds arrogant. You please forgive me as I chuckle over your last post. Angry, annoyed... funny stuff! For the record, yours, mine and everybodys free expression is important to me, whether I agree or not. Take it easy...

You too Daniel...I know I've been laughing the last few posts myself. (-:

"No need to call me Sir as it sounds arrogant." Hilarious!!

But like I said before, it's all free expression, right?
So who cares? (-: Too funny man!

Have you ever been to a Stones concert? I doubt it.

I've been to six Rolling Stones concerts, and they have one of the most diverse audience's I've ever seen.

Exactly!

I've never really thought of it or paid attention, but I dont remember seeing many people in suits and ties. I think I do remember a lot of tee shirts and jeans.

Wait a minute! Youre trying to tell me that all these musicians arent reading MY posts hoping that I wont blast them? Hoping that I will tell them all is good with their work. I'm shocked at your naivety. Why Amazon even allows me to buy these musicians work but, they are waiting to see what I have to say before they sell it, right?

Mr. McNary doesn't know the difference from when someone is being sarcastic.
I have to ask...is there a point to your post?
Aww shucks, I can't stop laughing now, so who cares!
BWAHHHH-Ha-Ha-Ha!!

Although I am a Rush Fan and still feel they should record and tour geddy's great high voice is part of what made them famous. However due to age and abuse he can't hit those high notes with power or for any considerable time. Witness his live performances of Temple of Syrinx. His voice craps out after one line of the verse. No disrespect to geddy or Rush.

ricky nelson got boo-ed because he didnt give the people what they wanted. kiss & others are only giving the masses what they want. true artists never retire. they continue to challenge themselves. but i do agree some "entertainers" should retire with dignity. as long as music fans buy tickets and attend these "entertainers" concerts, the show must go on.
