C. Batty says:
For me Hungry Like the Wolf will always be the Diane Downs anthem. I didn't listen to a lot of pop or rock until high school, so I didn't have any first hand knowledge of the song. Plus I am from her neck of the woods, so I saw a lot of the news coverage and it stuck with me because I was right between her daughters for age. So I can't listen to this song because it creeps me out, and no one understands why.

I already posted the story about how I got my left ear torn off just like that cop in Reservoir Dogs, in both cases by someone nicknamed Mr. Blonde, so yeah, "Stuck in the Middle With You", easily. Makes me shake my head at all the freaky coincidences out there that you would have never believed if you hadn't lived it yourself.

"Spirit In The Sky"....bad mescaline trip 1969. Couldn't listen to that song for several years. That song played in my head for four frikkin bad hours.
The experience cleaned me up though. From then on all I did was weed, hash and coke. Well, Quaaludes for a while.

I luv the song now!

That is what you get for living next door to Stephen Stills.

ED S. says:
That is an old story I told a long time ago.

IT IS: I had a friend who lived about 5 houses down the hill on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood from Mackenzie phillips and David Crosby came over a lot. He had a big American car like a Lincoln or Caddilac. It was 1974

We have been here a long time. My guess is that was around 2009.
I got a good laugh out of that pot story and never forgot it came from you.

ED, your mescaline story reminds me of this one time in '72 a few friends of mine and I dropped acid. We weren't coming on to it, so we each added a hit of THC. Still nothing, so we decided to go to the store and get some beer.
Needless to say as we were driving back from the store it all hit at once. I was driving, my trusty 'ol '55 Chevy. I thought "I know a shortcut". Somehow though, we ended up on the freeway going south instead of north, 20 miles from home. As we were going down the road, Harry Nilsson's "Jump Into the Fire" started playing on the radio. Well, that song already has some reverb/echo to it, and with the acid it just started echoing like crazy and streaming color out of the radio, along with those reflective dots on the freeway tracing all over the place. We eventually made it home, don't know how, but I still get a little freaked out when I hear "Jump Into the Fire".
