Pat made 'The Cross and the Switchblade' which was better than 'Harum Scarum'.
( Or was it??) .

Pat Boone is a nice guy, and his rock album was kinda cool, but he's not better than Elvis. lol!

Well......he IS still alive, so I guess that's better than being dead, but other than that.....

Perhaps EF can give us an in-depth analysis on the issue.
His posts show the impressive scholar talents that make interesting reading.

Yeah well Elvis' daughter debut album only went to no. 5 on the charts and I think trashing a certain ex-husband of hers (may God rest his soul) was the reason!

Posted on May 25, 2012 11:10:04 PM PDT
Hinch says:
#5 is a pretty good charting. I bought a copy, and it wasnt very good, imo. Most people only bought it because of who she was. Has either of her other albums charted that high?
Her new one seems to be pretty good, but I havent heard it all.

Btw, I didnt know she "trashed" her ex husband. If you're talking about Michael, she defended him in the child abuse case and said he was wrongly accused. She told Oprah they spent the four years after the divorce trying to reconcile.

Hi Hinch
I'm doing OK.
btw, EF has made some recent appearances on the 'Beatles: #1' thread.
He said that I didn't belong on that thread and that I should go away.

Sparklicious says:
Yes I'm talking about Michael and the reason why I said that was she told Oprah and other reporters that he used and manipulated her!

In reply to an earlier post on May 25, 2012 11:55:29 PM PDT
Hinch says:
Maybe he did. I don't know. I know someone said he depended on her very much. Maybe she manipulated him too.

Hinch says:
I was just on The Beatles thread and saw it. He can give it, but he sure cant take it.

I told him long ago he could make friends if he had wanted, instead of coming on here and insulting everyone. He insists he's not the one who started it, and everyone else is the problem. Insulting people is all he's done since I first saw him. I'm not sure he knows how to relate any other way.

Bob Bykowski says:
Pat Boone better than Elvis ?? Well...maybe on Pat's legendary CD 'In a Metal Mood'. There's nothing quite like big-band versions of classic heavy metal songs, especially a swing version of "No More Mr. Nice Guy" !

I like both Elvis and Pat Boone ...but since the thread asks the question, "Why is Pat Boone better than Elvis?" I'll list some reasons in his favor:

1. He had his own TV variety show.
2. He didn't wear white jump suits, only white bucks.
3. He graduated from Columbia, magna cum laude.
4. Elvis was HIS opening act back in the day.
5. He wrote a best-seller, "Twixt Twelve and Twenty," giving advice to pre-pubescent girls on how to be teenagers.
6. Some of his movies were actually pretty good.
7. His daughter sold more records than Elvis' daughter.
8. He lived next door to Ozzy Osborne.
9. He has a sense of humor ...hence, the metal album.
10.He has retained a quiet confidence, always grounded, never self-destructive.

I am sure that is why this thread was created. I am looking forward to his input as well...

It's hard to think up one of those.

Pat Boone recorded Beatles and Rolling Stones songs (before Elvis, if at all?) -- 1964-65:

"I Want to Hold Your Hand" and "As Tears Go By"
