I am interested in buying a point and shoot digital camera from Nikon and I am not sure which model to choose from. I noticed that there are different models with similar specs and I would like to choose the best possible options. Models reviewed so far are; Coolpix L810 and Coolpix P 510. Can anyone recommend a model for me? Tks

I only glanced at the specs, but the L810 is more of casual, easy to use superzoom with no EVF or PASM modes. Consumer friendly.

The P510 has the EVF, PASM, etc., that would allow the user to advance. More like a "trainer" for a dslr if you wanted to learn.

I just bought a P510 and before I purchased it, I had some very knowledgable camera people at work taka a look at the specs and they thought it was awsome. They also looked at the camera after I bought it and said it was a great camera.

I own a couple Nikon DSLRs and I would definitely purchase the P510 as a walk around camera.

I have a D90 and just bought the P510-WOW- what a pleasant surprise it has some features even the D90 does not have. It takes wow fotos- almost as good as the D90.
am pleased . Only drawback-there is no thread on the lens to attach a protective filter.
And no hot shoe, but there is a workaround, if you want to use external flash.
And the 42X zoom is oh so powerful and focuses fast.

hi,
i am not a professional photographer...however, i have identified an interest in the location where i work.
realize there is a lot of 'strange' animals that are not so common in the city where i live.
thinking about getting a Nikon camera that an amateur (like me) will find handy and easy to use; but can capture quality pictures of the animals around from a distance

I actually used the P510 for a portrait shoot and a wedding shoot alongside the D90 and some photos were superior to the D90, others just as good. In my opinion the P510 is almost a DSLR- it is that good.
