I would like to upgrade the body of my camera, Lenses involved 18-55 w/ wide angle, 55-200, 55-300, macro lens. Use for scenery, vacant, kids events, and jewelry. Looking at d3200, d5100, d7000. The only thing wrong with d7000 is the weight. kind. Of heavy. Suggestions?

EdM says:
The D7000 is a fine camera, but heavier than the other choices you mention. If used with lighter lenses, that might do.

It is not clear if the lenses you mention are what you already have, or if you are thinking of purchasing them. If you have the 18-55 that was a kit lens with your D40X, that probably does not have VR as the most recent 18-55 has. VR is very worthwhile IMO, including for vacation and kids [also sports if your kids play or will play sports].

To avoid the weight of the D7000, I'd look at the D3200 or the D5100. Another possibility is that the new D5200 will be out next January, and it will have the autofocus abilities of the current D7000. OTOH, it's price in the USA is unknown, only guessed at.

In this next Amazon discussion [in the Digital SLR forum] there is some guessing about that. Note that in the UK, there is a 20% VAT included in the "list" price, which is automatically out for US pricing ...

Are you serious? The D7000 is 4.6oz heavier than the D5100. Eat one quarter pounder with cheese less for lunch and you'll be ahead of the game.

B and H has better prices for some reason than AMZN for Nikon DSLRs - do a comparative shopping before parting with your green.
