I know what you mean about having loads of books to read and not enough time. That's why I'm glad I dicovered the books on CD that I can dump into my iPod and have someone read to me all day. Any other spare time I'm playing my DS or trolling Amazon reviews and Gamestop looking for more games. I hope you can get into the Agent Pendergast books as ther really are great reads.

I use the games to get my mind off my reality too and help me get to sleep. Plants vs. Zombies is awesome!!! I love it. I recently discovered the match 3 games in Jewel Quest Mysteries and am now looking for the ones that best suit me. Newbie question: what are bubble pop games? Which are your favorite match 3 games? Puzzler and SFCG gave me great suggestions (everyone has been so nice with all their help) for some but they are at Gamestops that are farther away from me so they will have to wait. I think Bejeweled 3 sounds like the one I'd like most and I hope to get that one on Saturday.

just4laffs, when I think of a bubble pop game, I'm thinking of something like Bust-a-Move or Space Bust-A-Move. You are basically shooting at an array of bubbles, eliminating groups.

There are also marble poppers. I enjoy Luxor: Pharaoh's Challenge, but it can be tough to find at a reasonable price. There are 5 or 6 Luxor games for the PC, though, and you can usually download a free trial either from Amazon or BigFishGames.com to see if you like them.

In that vein, I'm considering Zuma's Revenge!. But since I already have Luxor for my DS, I've been trying to decide if I *need* another game in that genre. Hmmm.....

DKG, having fun is what LV is all about, right? So you're doing exactly the right thing! When you have the time, tell us what games you've gotten. Are you buying locally while you're there, and just taking advantage of shops you don't usually get to?

Probably DQ, I hear 4 is the most old school of them.

You may also want Disgaea if you've never played it on another platform. Luminous Arc 1&2 are grid based strategy. Radiant Historia is a combo of grid and turn based battling, and is getting a reprint in the next month.

Brian, I am with you on the RPG's! My personal favorites are any of the DQ games and have all of them for the DS. They really satisfy the RPG itch and are keepers. IV & V are the best in my opinion but all are great. Golden Sun and Chrono Trigger are fun along with the FF series, but DQ tops my list and I highly recommend the series to all RPG lovers. I don't think you can go wrong with your DQ 4.

The folks here are great for recommending games and I've enjoyed so many new genres (and spent so much more money) since checking in with the enablers club regularly. An additional positive side effect is that my grandkids think I rock, lol. I share the game love (all kinds, but i'm really, really bad at platformers) with all three of them and they always check my stash so we can play our DS's together. They get to take home all that I'm done with or find that they enjoy more than me :)

Just4laffs~

Not sure if you have this one on your radar yet: Jewel Match DS? Way back when it first came out, I posted my thoughts on it. One of the reasons I like this one so much is that you have the option to play timed or relaxed mode. I much prefer not to play timed games. They are very distracting to my progess! I think there's 150 levels.

Puzzler ~ I think part of my problem -okay, most of my problem - in not finishing games is I was buying so many at one point. I would be in the middle of playing one, see a new one I wanted, buy it, then dump the one I was playing and start the new one. Now I don't buy many so maybe I can go back and finish the ones I've started.

But, like you, if I try to pick up a game where I left off, I'll feel I have to start over from the beginning.

I know I want the Resident Evil game if I get a 3DS.

Along with RPGs -which are my first love- I like the time managed games like Diner Dash, Cake Mania etc,, Also the Cradle of Rome type games. I'm just not into hidden objects or driving games, with the exception of Mario Kart. I have a couple Dragon Quest ganes I haven't started.

Now, for games I've actually finished - The Wizard of Oz, My World My Way, Pokemon Silver, Chi Bi Robo, the first Phoenix Wright, and a few others I can't remember right off the top of my head.

Did you ever play Animal Crossing? I put a good year into that playing with someone else on this list.

I think I'll get 999 out and start playing that when I get home this afternoon.

Did you ever get a Nook or a Kindle?

just4laffs ~ I'm on the fence about Ghost Trick. I found it a little bit frustrating. I'll have to back and try it again.

Puzzler, you're right! I haven't been posting much...haven't been playing much, either! I found a way to put a Kindle app on my Nook and it's opened a whole new world of free books! I've been crocheting, too...necklaces instead of heavy afghans. :) But I'm looking forward to the Titanic game...mine's been preordered forever, too!

TerriK-My grandkids think I rock too! They're always asking what new games I've gotten and telling me what they're playing!
Puzzler-I'm not getting any games out here or books. I've been downloading some books to my kindle, and I just brought the games out here to play, but really haven't gotten to them becaause I've been reading so much. We went to the casino a few times and I just got lucky and won every time I played. Paid for my trip out and then some. And just been visiting with my mom and taking her to some doctors. She turned 89 a couple days ago and is in good health but her memory is getting a bit iffy so we were trying to see what was going on there. Turns out it is just mild dementia so that was better than the alzheimers we were afraid of.

Good to know that Ghost Trick is a bit frustrating to an experienced gamer. I am learning to heed the advice of "the enablers" and customer reviews on Amazon. If people are frustrated, I certainly will be and that results in zero fun.

Hm, Jewel Match is on my list now, thanks! I don't like the timed option at all. Most games are challenging enough as it is for me.

I went back to Chronicles of Mystery: Curse of the Ancient Temple and played it half-way thru last night with only one peek at the walk through. Yay me!

Luxor: Pharaoh's Challenge looks promising too. The reviews made it sound pretty appealing. As far as *needing* Zuma's Revenge!, I think yes, you know, for comparison purposes.....

Another newbie question.....I just saw a Nintendo 3D live at Target (for some reason, whichever GS I stop at, they don't have the display going) and that is some crazy cool technology! Are the games for the 3D more the driving, action, RPG games? If the Nintendo site says nearly all DS games can be played on the 3D, would that include the hidden object games? The only games I have that are not the hidden object genre are the Lego games and the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix game. Would they "up-convert" to make them 3D or would they look and play like they do on the DS?

I totally agree about Ghost Tricks - I can figure out what to do and just can't execute it. I even gave it to my daughter who was home with the flu but she couldn't get into it.

You all are right about this being the "enablers" club... I ordered Crush 3D at gamestop - thanks for the heads up... Please post your thoughts about the game when you get the chance to try it.

DKG-My GD and I spent some time at a family dinner trading Pokemon, lol. She also does something where she points the DS's at each other and we play in the same game and then proceeds to kick my you know what.

just4laffs-I love match 3 but the the timed ones are hard for me too! I think I'm doing well and I don't pay attention to the timer, then run out of time. Grrrr. There's only so many times I'm willing to restart a level before tossing the game back in the box.

I think the 3DS technology only works with games specifically made for the system. I bought one but haven't played too many games yet. I actually prefer the DSiXL because I can see the game. The 3D effects are amazing and fun to look at though. I bought Tales of the Abyss and am going to test it out.

Crush 3D is now on my list too haha. Can't wait to see what you all think of it.

Gwhiz~

While you're waiting for Crush 3D to be released, you can download the free demo from the e-shop on your 3DS and play a couple levels to see how you like it. You can try out the demo for a limit of 30 times. :-)

SFCG - Enabling me again! I always forgot about going to the e-shop, thanks for letting me know Crush is there. Oops, there goes the housework I was going to get done today...

Here's a copy/paste off the Nintendo website:

"Backwards Compatibility with Nintendo DS Games
Almost all of the existing library of Nintendo DS™ games can be played on the Nintendo 3DS system. Browse hundreds of titles, already available in stores."

The 3D games can only be played in the 3D system. That would be super-cool if the games I already have would work in a new toy.....I will bring a couple to GS on my next visit and see if they will let me test them out there :)

Almost all DS games will work in the 3DS. The ONLY exceptions are DS games that require use of a peripheral that uses the GBA slot on the original DS or DS Lite, such as Guitar Hero and Easy Piano DS.

Btw, I love Ghost Trick, though I still need to finish it. For those who are stuck, you might try replaying the tutorial, and there's also a walkthru on GameFAQs that looks pretty good (http://www.gamefaqs.com/ds/974785-ghost-trick-phantom-detective/faqs/60327).

Yep, I am an enabler on here! lolol...The good thing is, it's a free demo! I've played it a few times now and liking it. :-)

PS...between the Crush demo and playing Pushmo, I can waste a couple hours! :-P

Yep. Yay!! I think the Enablers Club is a public service community lol. I learn so much and really save money in the long run because you all know where the good deals are and i don't waste money on the duds. Saving money, yes that's it. I keep telling myself that.
