@D. Politis, I actually get really annoyed at the happily ever after stuff, I know it's fantasy and all, but I can't help but roll my eyes when everything is tied up all nice and neat, I just can't suspend disbelief THAT much. So this series is right up my ally.

Also, just stumbled across some pretty great finds today, I started reading a couple, Rob Thurman's Cal Leandros series, Ilona Andrew's Edge series, Seanan McGuire's October Daye series and I don't know if anyone reads steampunk (I love it), but Pip Ballantine's Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences is looking pretty good. Oh, and I dunno if I already mentioned that Adrienne Wilder's dragon series is absolutely wonderful, but if you're leery of m/m love scenes, you should probably stay away from it, because it's pretty heavy in that direction.

I'm actually gonna give the Shadow series a break for a few days and come back to it, I really want to get into the Cal Leandros series by Rob Thurman and the Edge series from Ilona Andrews.

IRT the Shadow series, it just occurred to me from this comment that people seemed to have missed the entire conversation that Miranda had with Jonathan on the roof. He says pretty much the exact same thing! I'm not gonna give anything else away but yeah, if you're gonna live upwards of 300 years, then crap is bound to happen.

@Sealiknewuman, I love Miranda and David together. I prefer stories that are more true to life, people have problems, stuff happens, we have to overcome and then, we have to overcome again. When stuff stops happening, you're dead.

Ilona Andrews is an author I have read. I'll check out Calendaros series by Rob Thurman and Andrews' Edge. I'm always looking for good stuff to read.

Thanks for the recs.

If I can suspend disbelief so that people change into werewolves, grow fangs to suck blood, and eat brains to survive then I can require a happy ending and believe it. There are many people in real life who find their true love and are actually faithful to their partner. There are enough unhappy endings to life that I hear every day in the news. . . I don't want it in my PNR, UF, or fantasy. When I want a sad (or WTF) ending I'll read "literature."

@Tiger Lily, LOL, I understand. That's the beauty of fiction.

Soooo, update. The Edge series from Ilona Andrews is a bust, it's just very all over the place and after about 12 chapters I put it aside cause it was really starting to annoy me, the world seems interesting but there are so many things randomly thrown in that it's confusing to get a handle on what supposed to be happening and why. You know when an author hints at something with an explanation to come? That happens constantly, except the explanation never does come and she just moves on to other things like it was never mentioned. I can't really even say what it's about because, um, well....I don't really know. After 12 chapters. I'm a bit disappointed because I've heard so many great things about Ilona Andrews and now I'm not sure if I want to start the Kate Daniels series at all after this. Anywhooo, started the Cal Leandros series by Rob Thurman, it seems pretty ok so far, but I haven't gotten that far yet and truthfully I was so sleepy last night when I started that I'm not quite sure if my perceptions of it can be trusted, so I'm going back to it when I finish here. Will keep you guys posted.

I'm a big Mercy Walker fan. She's indie, and she writes all kinds of adult stories. but I'd say the one for this question would be Dark Surrender It's sexy, fast paced, and has vampires, witches, werewoves and the fae. And they're all hot and dangerous.

You should check out the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost. The first book is Halfway to the Grave. Just a heads up though, Bones (the hero) is mine.
