Here's your chance to delve into all of those forgotten treasures hidden in your 'To Be Read Pile'. If, like me, you have an 'oooo shiny' addiction and that pile just keeps on growing - but remember these were 'shiny' once too.

So dust off those old series you need to catch up on, or start a new one that people have been raving about and get encouragement, and kudos or opinions if you need help deciding.

And the best part (other than the comradery)? It's free, you already shelled out the dough for those beauties :) the books don't even have to be PNR/UF they just need to already be on your pile - other than that, it's your challenge, it's up to you:)

If anyone has anything that they think I should add to this initial post let me know.

So here's my challenge - and I would love to have input from anyone who cares to give it as to what I should choose or lose:)

I have a bunch of series that I am more than two books behind on, but since I have a used book hook up I still keep adding the new releases to the pile. So my goal is to read the next book and decide whether to finish the series or stop buying more for a couple of the following (there's more but my list was starting to look ridiculous:) I am going to try for at least one book a week from the pile (hmm now that I 've listing them out, I am wondering if it's the more UFy ones that are tending to languish on the pile)

Addison Fox's Warrior (3)
Kat Richardson's Greywalker (3)
Rob Thurman's Cal Leandros (6)
Rachel Vincent's Were Cats (2)
Juliana Stone's Jaguars (3)
Gena Showalter's Lords of the Underworld (2)
Erica Hayes' Fae (2)

Anna Windsors' Dark Crescent Sisterhood part 2 (2)
DD Barant's Undead (2)

Shari Kohler's Moon Chasers (2)

Vickie Thompson's Werewolves (2)
Terri Spear's Wolves (3)
Laura Gilmans PUPI (2)
Anya Bast's Enchantment (3)

Gail Carriger - Parasol Protectorate (2)
Rhiannon Byrd - Touch (2)
Cat Adam's - Song (2)
Candace Sam's Tales of the Order (2)
Lauran Dohner's New Species (4)

High priority books because the next one is out soon

Carrie Vauhn - Kitty's Big Trouble
Kelly Meding - Changeling

Jennifer Estep's Gin Bianco Spider assasin (5)
Devin Monk's Magic (5)

and new ones I should try or quit buying
Rachel Vincent's Shadow (2)
Lauren Dane's Bound by Magic (2)
Tami Dane's Blood of Eden (2)
Michelle Rowen's Nighshade (2)

Keri Arthur's Dark (3)
Zoe Archer's Hellraisers (2)
Cynthia Eden's Angels (2) ** one down, may try the second
Nancy Holzer's Deadtown (2)
Cherry Adair's Night (3)

Kendra Leigh Castles Dark Dynasties (3)
Dorynda Jones - Second Grave on the Right
Kelley Armstrong (2)
Chicagoland Vampires (3)
Jenn Bennet's Kindling the Moon (3.5)
Seanan Mcguire's Toby Daye (5)

Hi all!
So do you want us to list some of our tbr's and then just start working our way thru them? Lol- just not sure if I should list some of these or just mention when I finish one:) Thanks!

Posted on Jul 7, 2012 10:55:14 AM PDT
KS TBRQueen says:
@melindeeloo-I do recommend that you finish Lords of the Underworld. There are a couple books that are not as WOW as the others but her new books have been really really good, including the spin off.
@Ezinwanyi-I recommend you keep reading ALL of them! I would maybe start with the Nightwalkers because its the smallest of the series. Only six books. But its up to you.

Heres my list, and i am working on it. I have only read the first book on all of them.
Kate Daniels-currently reading book two
Alien Huntress
Dirk & Steele
The Elder Races

Marie - whatever you want, if you'd like input from us then you might want to list some - otherwise just sharing your successes is fine:)

D. Stom says:

Okay, I still have (and this is daunting, so I'm cringing while I write this) over 800 in my Kindle TBR, which is the only TBR I'm entering here.
[Edited for TBR & Read]
My TBR list:
BDB series. I think I have them all, but will read all that I have... (? I don't even know, and I don't want to now right now. ugh.)
Rachel Mead's Dark Swan (4?).
KA's Fantasyland. (*sigh*) more jersey hair, I'm guessing. (3)
Showalter's LOTU & Atlantis. I have read the first few, but got distracted (go figure). I'm not sure where I left off, so will start all over. (10)
Chenery's Ra's Chosen (7).
Elementals (3).

If I find more, and I'm sure I will, I'll post them... :)

FYI: I'm not counting any of the novellas in anthologies. Yet. Those I don't count until I've read all the stories inside. And I'm only dealing with series. And all of the numbers I use only indicate how many more I have to read, not the total in the series.
Patti O'Shea's Crimson City (10)
KC's IAD series (14? 13?)
Alexandra Ivy's Guardians of Eternity (11)

BDB series, #s 1-10
Chenery's Ra's Chosen, #s 1-7
O'Shea's Crimson City, #s 1-2
KCole's IAD series, through Lothaire and read the one with GShowalter, so 13 I think.

Vanessa C says:
@ Ezi and Kimberly, except for Dirk & Steele, which I haven't read, I would whole heartedly recommend all of those series. Many are what I would consider as the best of the best, in PNR/UF.

@ melindeeloo... The spider assassin books are on my wish list. I've read Lords of the Underworld and like most of them. The Nightshade series, I've only read book one, I forgot it was on my first kindle. I'll look at what people think about the second book Bloodlust: Living in Eden.

Finnegan says:
I have endless series starters in my pile, so I'm going to list the ones I'm going to make my priority, and put myself on a strict one-click restriction (at least until August :) )

To get up to date:
Sentinel Wars by Shanon K Butcher --Done
KGI by Maya Banks (2 books and a novella)
Iron Seas by Meljean Brook (2 book)
Guild Hunter by Nalini Singh -- Done and maintaining
Lords of the Underworld by Gena Showalter (3 books)--I give up--removed from the pile.
Night Huntress/Night Huntress World by Jeaniene Frost --(4 more to go)
Women of the Underworld by Kelley Armstrong (I've only read Bitten so far)
Ghostwalkers by Christine Feehan (I've only read the first book)
World of the Lupi (I've read the first book)

To start: I have at least the first if not more in the series
Kate Daniels by Ilona Andrews
Downside Ghosts by Stacia Kane
The Edge series--Ilona Andrews
The Disillusionists by Carolyn Crane--read the first and that was plenty. Removed from the TBR pile.
Elemental Assassin by Jennifer Estep
Eternal Guardians by Elizabeth Naughton
Moonlight by Nancy Gideon

Assisgned reading per this forum
Master of Crows
Elemental Mysteries

We'll see if I can get to the end of the list in time for the next in all the series!

(I've now edited 3X to add more--I need to stop)

Posted on Jul 7, 2012 12:26:25 PM PDT
Well, rather than relist everything I think I will list the ones I think (I hope) I will read out of my TBR stack (these are just the paperback things, listing the ones in the Kindle would be depressing )

Urban Panther - Amanda Arista
ExtraSensory Agents - Leslie Parrish
Nikki Glass - Jenna Black
I have the Warriors of Poseidon but nobody has told me "what a great series that is"

Posted on Jul 7, 2012 12:35:00 PM PDT
@Vanessa - "Scanguard Vampires, by Tina Folsum I read the first two in the series" - I did also, now I can't remember why I did not get the rest, best as I remember I enjoyed them

Posted on Jul 7, 2012 12:54:07 PM PDT
Vanessa C says:
@ Doug... I enjoyed them also, I think Lethal Rider came out and I never returned to the SV series.

Posted on Jul 7, 2012 12:56:05 PM PDT
Marie says: goes...*cringing*

These are series starters
Urban Shaman
Kindling the Moon
Discount Armageddon
The Iron King
Blood Rights (House of Comarre)
Dragon Actually
Mind Games
Brush of Darkness
On the Edge
Soul Screamers
Embrace of the Damned
Burning up Flint
Wow...I guess I did have more series starters than I thought I did....I'll spare everybody and not list the others on my immediate tbr list. I will post any success stories:)

Posted on Jul 7, 2012 12:58:18 PM PDT
Vanessa C says:
@ D Stom... You win, you have the biggest TBR pile. Holy Cow!!! (for lack of a better expletive).

Posted on Jul 7, 2012 1:58:14 PM PDT
@marie - "Blood Rights (House of Comarre)" - another series I have the first 3 books and never cracked them to read, no idea why, too many newer shiny things maybe:)

Posted on Jul 7, 2012 4:29:54 PM PDT
Marie says:
Doug- shiny is always better at the time:)

Aussie Girl says:
Okay, this challenge actually made me go and count my TBR and although its not as big as some others I calculate I've got about six months of reading if I never bought another book from today: 50 books and 28 kindle books. Here's a selection of those I really want to read:

Kindle: 2 Deadwoods by Ann Charles
A Hidden Fire: Elementals 1 by Elizabeth Hunter
My Lord Vampire by Alex Ivy
Blood Rights by Kristen Painter
Angel of Darkness by Cynthia Eden

Books: Final Prophecy Jessica Andersen; 2 books
Highlander books Karen M Moning 3 books
J D Robbs 2 books ( and about 30 more to purchase!)
Mercy Thompson 4 books in TBR, 2 more to buy
Kate Daniels: 2 books, 1 novella
Dante Valentine: complete series
Shannon Butcher: 1 Sentinel wars
Parasol Protectorate: 3 books
Downside 5: Chasing Magic
Alex Craft 3 Grave Memory
City of Lost Souls Cassandra Clare
The Golden Lily Richelle Mead.
Meljean Brook: Iron Seas 1 and 2

On a happier note I am up to date with at least 15 series, that't got to count for something.LOL. Despite best intentions and pesky life issue the most books I can read in a week is 2, maybe three if I thow in a novella.

Maybe if I didn't spend so much time posting on this forum, I would get more reading actually done....

Wow there's some really good stuff in our piles. So how are we going to help each other out? (though from the look of the books on the pile, maybe we've been helping eachother out too much in the recs dept:)

I ended up starting Dark Awakening - I didn't get past the prolog last time I tried, made it to the second actual chapter so far this time...

In reply to an earlier post on Jul 7, 2012 7:25:08 PM PDT
