Last year I found this site called Dabwaha. Some of you may have heard of it, some of you may even have participated in it. For those of you who do not know it, its a website that is very similar to March Madness, only its for books. The best way to describe it is to use words straight from their website.

"For newbies, the DABWAHA tournament is a tournament of books. We put together a slate of 64 books published in 2011 we thought were really great and place these books in head to head match ups until this is only one book left, the DABWAHA champion.

This year, like last year, we are asking the public to nominate a book in each of our 8 categories:
¡Historical
¡Contemporary
¡PNR/SFR
¡Series or Category
¡YA
¡Crossover (books with romantic elements but not considered traditional romances)
¡GLBT
¡Novella"

After all that ONE Champion is named. I guess Im just really impatient (im trying to work on that) for it to start back up again for this year because i had so much fun doing it last year. I cant even begin to narrow down the ones I would nominate. Just for fun I thought it would be cool if you listed some of the books published from 2012 you think should make the nomination list.

I think for the YA catagory I would pick Alice in zombieland by Gena Showalter. For the crossover catagory I would pick steels edge by Ilona Andrews. And for the series I would pick Kate Daniels.

Love DABWAHA. Got some good recs from there.

I'd pick Riveted, Steel's Edge, Gunmetal Magic, Shadow & Bone, Blackwood, and Mr Real.

ETA: And Sultry With a Twist, my one non-action romance that I liked. :)

KS... cool thread! I'm going to have to really think about these.
Contemporary... Steel's Edge
Series or category ... Death's Rival, a Jane Yellowrock Novel.
PNR... A Fall of Water
Historical... ?
Novella... ?
YA... ?
I'm going to have to go through last year's books to figure out the rest.

Never done the Dubwaha but here's my pic for this thread.

Contemporary - Gunmetal Magic
PNR - Lethal Rider/Shadow's Claim
Series/category - (The Force of Wind/Fall of Water) Elemental Mysteries
Novellas - Assassin and the Pirate Lord (1) Desert (2), Underworld (3), Empire (4)
YA - Poison Princess
Crossover - Shadow & Bone

Nothing for Historical as I don't read them.

Vanessa C says:
To amend my list I would add
YA- Poison Princess, although for most of the book, I thought that the h was TSTL. The H was a cute French speaking Cajun. I liked him a lot. The only other YA book that I read from last year was The Raven Boys. It was pretty good too, but I think that the character development was better in the Cole book.

for novella... I think Peacemaker (The Flashgold Chronicles) by Lindsay Buroker

ETA.. rest of post

Historical- The Duke's Tattoo: A Regency Romance of Love and Revenge, Though Not in That Order (The Horsemen of the Apocalypse Series).

Vanessa C says:
Crossover... Moonglow (Darkest London). Both historical and PNR.

Any other picks for the year? I did really like The Darkest Seduction too, I might pick that for PNR. Aparwntlu for me this was the year for Ilona Andrews and Gena Showalter.

Well, just when I think I've got this internet thing down... it makes me feel stupid. I tried to enter the DABWAHA and the entry form is smarter than I or the link is goofy on my end. Sigh. So I will at least go to the site and watch what wins. I am sure there are plenty of fellow readers who will pick the same as I would.
It does look fun. oh, well ... leaves more reading time for me.
I would definitely pick Fair Game By Briggs.
