Reverse the situation. Let's say you own an Xbox 360; would you be thinking about upgrading to a gaming PC? There are many reasons to believe that graphics coming from a computer can be better than Xbox, or even PS3. But there is, in my mind, one barrier as far as gameplay between the two: the controllers. And we haven't even started talking about the finances involved in changing...

What's the difference in controllers. You can use xbox and ps3 controllers on a pc. I have used both effectively.

Wii has better specs than current PCs.

Lol really. Didn't know the consoles were running Extreme settings at DX11 at TRUE 1920 x 1080 with Anti Aliasing, last I checked they were running at the equivalent of LOW settings, and running even lower than 1280 x 720 with no Anti Aliasing. So please tell me since when did Sub 720p beat out TRUE 1080p? Not to mention my PC runs the game at a nice 50-60 fps while both console versions were at 20-30 (and hardly ever hitting 30). You are a 100% troll dude, or you don't have many brain cells.

In the case of the OP, clearly both apply.

my wii can run games in 1090p at 70fps and it has motion controls.

Successful troll is successful.

I think it's crazy to not want to be a PC gamer. The value you get is amazing. For my Max Payne 3 preorder on Steam, I got Max Payne 1,2 and L. A. Noire for free. Console preorder bonuses really suck in comparison.

Consoles are like puberty. Soon you will be getting a PC.

Frankly if you think this is true you are kidding yourself.

Consoles do not represent the high end of gaming just as a truck does not represent the high end of cars. PC's give you that extra horsepower to do the really awesome things that consoles simply can't. Consoles, quiet simply, are old. The XBox 360 was released 6 years ago. In computer speak that is a really, really long time.

As a developer for both PC and console I can assure you that you need to make sacrifices when you are converting your game for consoles. They simply can't handle the million particles that my PC can.

Consoles are nice as they made gaming something that non-geeks could do. However, they simply don't have the power or versatility that a PC offers.

Also, in response to your comment on 1080p and 70 fps. You may very well be getting a nice picture, however, 70 fps would be 60, or more likely 30. The problem here is that the 1080 of a console and the 1080 of a PC can't be compared. Textures for consoles are dramatically reduced often from 2048x2048 to as low as 512x512 or ever 256x256 for less used/important textures. While you probably won't notice playing a game with your friends, you will notice if you ever make the switch. I note here that Skyrim on console looks equivalent, if not worse on console than the lowest settings on PC.

My suggestion for you. Find a friend with a Microsoft (Windows) PC, you said you have a Mac and they are notoriously bad for gaming (though apparently getting better). Anyway, find a friend. Find a game you like, sit and play it, learn the controls and tell me it doesn't look better than the console version.

Consoles have there place, but high end gaming is not it. High end meaning: graphics, physics and other core mechanics run smoothly and look good.

As a side note: MMO's, FPS's and RTS's all play better on PC's. MMO's because they take a lot of power, FPS's because it's easier to aim (this has been proven in multiple cases of console vs PC games, though your own personal experience may vary), RTS's because you can't hotkey a game when you only have 10-20 buttons.

PC and X-box are equals....They are both owned by Microsoft :)

Only the OS, but the hardware is made by other companies. And pc's can be 10x and higher specs over the 360 hardware.

Surprisingly, not very often.

Its true about strategy games on Pc with the matrix game company having a lot of those and it would great if consoles got them as well but it is starting to occur with that type of game on tablets.
