Hey board. I'm looking for a good turn based strategy game recommendation. Was going to get Civ 5 but saw the poor reviews. Should I get that or look at something else?

Definitely Civ 5, great game.

Also there's Crusader Kings 2 which is amazing, but it has a high learning curve. It becomes very rewarding if you take the time to learn it.

Same goes for Europa Universalis III. So good, yet it turns people off with its complexity.

I'm only fond of some of the oldy moldy turn-based games, but one of my all-time favorites was the original Fallout.

It's still a blast to play today. I highly recommend it if you haven't already tried it. It's certainly nothing like Civ 5 though, lol.

Age of Wonders 2 is great as well; I believe it's available on Steam now along with it's expansion.

Best Series as far as good Turn Based old school Strategy was the original Warlords series skip warlords IV though it was weak butr Warlords Battlecry 2 and Warlords 3 Reign Of Heroes both Bad ass best made in my opinion still to date!

How can anyone even talk about turn-based strategy without mentioning Master of Magic. It's the gold standard and it's still good. Get it from cheap, and the boards there are full of recommendations about tweaks with the graphics, help with game play, etc.
