Benjamin says:
Hello,
I am thinking about buying a digital piano. I have seen and felt the Privia Px-850 at a Guitar Center store, and I liked it. However, I've seen there is a new Px-780 that apparently went on sale today (Apr 1 2013). I don't know much about the differences.
Also, the Celviano AP-620 seems to be, according to what I've read online, a 'better' digital piano. However, the Casio website does not list the 620 as one of the pianos in their catalogue. Instead, they list the Celviano AP-650. When I google the 650 it does not come out on any website.
Could anybody please tell me the differences between the Privia and the Ceviano different models? I am really confused...
Finally, for the price, there seems to be only another piano that may compete with all the Casio models I've just mentioned above: the Yamaha YDP-162. Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Benjamin, it's confusing, isn't it? FWIW, the px780 looks like more piano than the px850, particularly in the number of preset voices. There is a good review of the 780 here: http://azpianonews.blogspot.com/2013/02/review-casio-px780-digital-piano-best.html The PX780 seems to be very similar to the 620/650, with a slightly less powerful amp and speaker system, and less cabinet. The control panel looks to be identical or nearly so. At $1000 the PX780 looks to be a lot of piano. Good luck finding the AP650. I haven't played one or even played the 620. I did play the AP420 and thought it lacked presence, or "life". Would love to play a 650, because, like you, I don't know what to do.

the AP-620 was discontinued over a year ago. The AP-650 was either never a USA product or was withdrawn shortly after introduction. It is sold in other markets, however. Casio appears to have no true successor (full cabinet) to the AP-629 in the US market. it's a shame.
