Stupid and illiterate is no way to go through life, son.

I agree, and you are the perfect example of it and a great poster boy for not going through life that way. In a world of calculators and computers, you are an abacus. "mommy mommy look da man spelled a word wrong. "

This one area i agree with you about is one I was thinking about today on the way to my doctor. I was on the freeway and people in their gas guzzling trucks and SUV were driving like they were trying to save gas. Slowing everyone down. Of course you know our agreement is about people buying those gas hogs without thinking.

The Lame stream media...you might think that MSNBC would fall into that category, but no. Chuck Todd did Mitt a real service when he was talking about his "bullying" charge. And so did ABC's Ann Curry. They bent over backward to accommodate Mitt. You should check it out. It may change your mind about fair and balanced and the lame street media.

http://newsbusters.org/blogs/kyle-drennen/2012/05/11/nbc-reports-romney-bully-story-labeled-factually-incorrect-family-alle

Edit: Of course they missed the point that Mitt had the chance to come out strong against High School bullying, but he chose to down play the incident, basically condoning such behavior passing it off as a youthful prank. Shame on him. And Shame on Republicans for trying to obfuscate the issue of Romney's character by bringing up the economy. You might as well say that it is not raining. The two issues have nothing to do with each other.

Being There, an excellent movie about Chance the Gardner, "Chance E. Gardner," thought to be the wisest pundit of them all. Sought after by business moguls and presidents alike. First there is spring and things become green, then comes summer and it is hot. Then comes fall and the leaves of the trees fall to the ground. Then winter covers everything with snow. And then spring comes again and all the plants sprout new leaves. He likes to watch. And then in the end, he walks out over the pond, on top of the water. Peaceful, serine, perfect.

You are drinking the right-wing kool aid.

Our schools are doing well considering, with the teachers putting in their own money for supplies. I know that the Republican party wanst so privatize the public schools so their friends can make money off education. So far, they have not made much headway here locally. There are some really bad fundamentalist Christian schools here so bad that local colleges cannot accept their classes because they are full of revisionist history and science. There are a few Charter schools, but their test scores are worse than the public schools. Hate to bust your bubble.

Meanwhile, my husband & I pay a higher federal income tax rate than Romney pays.

Kathleen M. Pelley says:The school problems are caused by underfunding. It has nothing to do with teacher's pensions. Our local schools are doing well.

Romney has a different philosophy to resolve the economy than Democrats do. Republicans used to spend on infrastructure to get $$$ moving, but now are stopping that from happening because it has a proven record of success. I know the stimulus really helped our community here on the north coast of California.

My major concern is that Romney will start another war with Iran to stimulate the economy. After all, that is what Bush did to stimulate the economy after 911. Neither of those wars were really necessary. However, those wars puts lots of $$$ into the war machine/Eisenhower's warning about "military industrial complex". Wars do not help the economy in the long run.

There are lots of things that can be done to stimulate the economy, but the Republicans, now that they control the House, are making sure those stimuli do not happen to hurt Obama's re-election possibilities.

I am also concerned about more deregulation of the banking and investment portion of the economy. Those could be investing in the economy, but they are choosing not to. Could that be on purpose since they think that Romney will further deregulate that industry?

Nope, I am voting for Obama. I do not trust another President Bush, i.e. Romney. I have yet to hear what Romney's business plan is so I am assuming it is the same as Bush's.

Complaining has nothing to do with being a leech. Complaining is part of our patriotic duty when we see something that needs to be fixed like Romney paying a lower federal income tax rate than my husband & I pay.

I didn't read about Romney's 2011 tax records being released. Do you have a source? The last taxes I heard about were for 2010--13.9% federal income tax rate. My husband & I pay almost 16%.

You can call Romney a patriot if you wish. I do not agree, but that is why you, apparently, will be voting for him and I will not.

Calling someone a leech because s/he is retired makes no sense to me, but maybe you are talking about the real Republican death panels: get rid of the elderly because they cost too much.

In reply to an earlier post on May 13, 2012 1:30:13 PM PDT
I voted against prop 13 because I knew it was the beginning of the end financially for California. I am not saying that something wasn't needed to deal with property taxes for low income elderly exacerbated by inflation caused by the Vietnam war that was not paid for [kind of like Bush and Iraq, Afghanistan, Medicare D, etc].

The school problems are caused by underfunding. It has nothing to do with teacher's pensions. Our local schools are doing well.

Yes, the budget deficit swelled, especially under Schwarznegger who did nothing about it -- nothing. Now, Brown is trying to be the adult and, as usual, the Republicans were not willing to work with him. This could have been resolved at the legislative level instead of Brown having to take it to the voters.

I was born in California. My family has lived here since the 1800's. I do not find taxes to be especially high, unless you purchased a house at the top of the market before everything fell under Bush in 2006-7-8. My income taxes seem reasonable enough--remember, I pay a higher federal income tax rate than Romney pays. We do not have tax on food--that is great for low income folks.

The Republicans have done a great brainwashing on the general public encouraging them to be fiscally irresponsible--expecting something for nothing.

I am glad Romney is your hero. To me he is someone with problems way worse than mine and is probably cluelesss as to what the problem is.

S. Evans says:
Brian McGregor says: "(ignorant one--We know that tax cuts for the rich does not work--we tried that under Bush)
and he ended the recession he inherited and ushered in mass prosperity,...."

So what's it like there in your Alternate Universe? Does rain fall up? Does it get light when the sun sets?
