I'm so sorry...We haven't had the fires here, but have had the tornadoes, and people do band together to get things back to normal as soon as possible, but it is a long process. And of course some things can never be replaced.
I've not heard reports on injuries or missing people...or deaths. I hope that's a good sign....

You are drawing hate in on yourself sir. You always want documentation on things. John made a hypocritical remark considering all the right wing drivel he post. I pointed that out and you started in on me sir. Your thriends made hateful and insulting remarks about my president but that was perfectly fine with you sir.
You might want to take an honest look at yourself.
My point still stands, next time John post anti union drivel, here is where I call him on it.

Oh man, tornadoes are so SCARY. Been hearing a lot of people from Texas and a few other places share their tornado stories. That may very well scare me more than a fire.

So far, no missing people that we know of. I know a lot of animals have died though :( Not to mention the trees. Watching those things light up and after years and years and years on this plant, just go WHOOSH -- gone -- is awful. I can't imagine how it feels for the people watching their homes burn down on television. And the 87-year-old owner of the Flying W Wranch...to lose all that, at that age. But he's just like, "We'll rebuild it!" Watching the never-say-die attitude of people here has been incredibly humbling.

Eh, I've decided not to let myself get sucked into the bs anymore. It's far too banal and repetitive. If I'm gonna fight with someone, it's going to be with someone who has something original to say. And usually a person intelligent enough to do that, is someone I'd be happy to go for a beer with anyway. IRL, I try to get along with everyone, and the bullies are usually too skurred to bully outside the computer. So why bother?

Very wise decision. There is no reason whatsoever to bother.
Btw,
I like the old gentleman's attitude:)
I bet he means it, and I bet he will....
I'm betting most of the people around there feel the same way...
WG, All things are possible....
Stay safe:)

You have my sympathies. Here in So. California, my area has burned 5 times in the last dozen years. Only one Pol, Gov. Schwarzenegger, ever bothered to show up.

I suppose you think he should just sit around reading "My Pet Goat" mumbling about getting fooled again.

In reply to an earlier post on Jun 28, 2012 4:35:02 PM PDT
Ugh, I am so sorry. I'm glad he showed up, but that's pretty awful if no one else is acknowledging the devastation. I'm not very into government, but a reason I can keep an open mind to things like ObamaCare is the idea that it's ethically wrong to withhold something that could save others. If the fires in your area could be stopped, they should stop them IMO. Things like Katrina are tricky because it's hard to stop a hurricane, but if we can be more prepared and effective in helping afterwards, we should. Where in Southern Cali?

"If the fires in your area could be stopped, they should stop them IMO."

I agree, but often firefighters are stymied by terrain and weather. Here in my area of Ventura County, fires have been left to burn all the way to the ocean as long as there are no structures in the way. It's just too difficult to get into the canyons and when the Santa Ana winds blow, you can get in trouble in a hurry.

Ventura County.

Oh, totally!!! I know the firefighters are giving EVERYthing they've got, for sure! I just mean, that's not the kind of thing I have a problem with government helping out on, if they can. I felt the same about Katrina, and any time an entire population is left devastated for some reason or another.

Hearing rumors he might come to my town next! Ima get him drunk on PBR! Not really, but it's pretty exciting.

Posted on Jun 29, 2012 1:34:29 PM PDT
Nm, he just left. Oh well. Very grateful for the visit!

In reply to an earlier post on Jun 29, 2012 1:39:51 PM PDT
PBR for ironic reasons or are things really that bad?

In reply to an earlier post on Jun 29, 2012 1:46:40 PM PDT
Haha I can't tell anymore, when it comes to PBR! Although it would be fitting since it's red white and blue! I'm disappointed, it's dead here and he would have livened things up!
