Google has 425 million GMail users worldwide. In the first 6 months of 2012 they complied with 34,614 law enforcement takedown requests with 16,281 being in the US. I doubt if any of these were generated by the Obama White House in an effort to take away "freedoms" from right-wingers. In fact I'm confident that a large percentage of the requests were for GMails needed by law enforcement to bust sexual predators and cyber-criminals. In case you haven't heard, the internet is crawling with creeps trying to meet our children and hack our bank accounts.

Don't you know that civil liberties don't matter anymore, because there's a Democrat in the White House?

LOL, and you think Bush's AT&T data rooms were any less intrusive? What were you Bush fans saying then? Oh yeah! "If you got nothing to hide you shouldn't be worried about it." I believe that's what you said. That's when a new term entered the American lexicon, HOME LAND SECURITY. Home yeah, land yeah, securing my phone calls? Uhhhh! sure, if you think my cookie recipe is a danger to America's security tap, tap, tap all you want. So that the government collects Google data is not surprising at all. I suggest not typing in the following search terms, Assassinate+Bomb+Jihad ;)

the govt has intercepted all comms since ww2

Someone's been watching a little too much "To Catch a Predator" with Chris Hansen. No one wants your children. Not every male is a rapist, not every man that shows a child affection is a ChiMo. Chill! If some creepy guy is talking to your kids, by all means, take appropriate action but not every dark recess of the internet harbors a rapist/haxor.

I'm all for civil liberties, what do you suggest we do about it, stage a sit-in on Capital Hill and say we don't like civil liberty infringements? And do you suppose an ACLU membership will stop it? Please, we aren't hypocrites we just aren't going to stop what all governments do, have done and will continue to do forever.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 13, 2012 8:56:48 PM PST
I'd suggest not voting for a candidate that gets zero liberty torches from the ACLU, on a scale from zero to four, which is Barack Obama's score. But you wouldn't listen to me, because there's a Democrat in the White House. Yippee.

It doesn't sound that cool to me, but I actually care about civil liberties.

google has been collecting user data since at least 2005, during the Bush admin and has stated that they never dump it like Yahoo did (and may still). Google keeps it forever.

Sure, all you haters can blame it on Democrats, but it was setup this way during the Bush administration... Clinton was probably too busy defending himself against the vast rightwing impeachment conspiracy to pay this kind of thing the attention it deserved.

A customer says:
<< Clinton was probably too busy defending himself against the vast rightwing impeachment conspiracy >>

Now Hillary will be going to prison for lying to congress about Libya.

Bubba will probably be dating Sandra Fluke while Hillary is locked up.

This is the 'reality government' you voted for, enjoy!!
