If we let business run the USA won't they just out source and automate jobs away to save costs?

Read your Constitution, it's authories are stated clearly in those articles.
It's function is not to "think more about people", but it's supposed to only perform functions allowed to it by the document.

And speaking of your slam on shareholders...how are you even able to eat? Are you living off the land and foraging your own crops and living in a shack down by the river?

I'd remind you that you are posting on a corporate website....which is provided by the SHAREHOLDERS you seem to hate so much. So...are you also saying that the owners of a company doesn't deserve to receive profits? No, just that the government should tell them how much they should be happy with keeping then.

You know what?

It's not my function as a taxpayer to feed you or anyone else.
Not my function to clothe you.
Not my function to pay for your self-gratifying college eduction.
Not my function to nurse you back to health when you are sick.
Not my function to pay for your cell phone, your internet or your landline access.
Not my function to pay for your birth control or your abortions.

No society can succeed if they ignore the weakest members of society, traditionally the very young, very old, and very sick or disabled. But all the able-bodied adults ten deep in the welfare and unemployment lines strains one's credibility that they are "needy".

Yet I do believe in a safety-net, as Obama continues to dump the long-term unemployed to make his upcoming unemployment numbers look better. These people can usually find shelter with relatives or Community Shelters.

Water is free - but food is not. Our county in Texas is beefing up their charitable food giveaways, since with summertime here, school kids are not getting meals at school - putting additional pressure on poor families.

So if you want to help the truly poor and struggling, give to a food bank. Here's an alphabetical list by city/country for the whole U.S.

This is NOT A GOOD THING. The fed government doesn't produce anything, and is incredibly inefficient in providing "services".

I work for a fortune 500 company that created a subsidiary in india just for the purpose of offshoring jobs. The hiring policy is that all new positions be filled in india and only hire US workers if it is not feasible. It is nothing about economy. It is nothing about politics. It is pure business... cheap labor. These are high paying technology jobs. Corporate executives give no consideration to shifting this flow of employee wages out of the US. I just wonder if people like Ragnar wil be as rabid in defending sharelolders when the bulk of them are from China or India.

Actutually the US government does tremendous good and has become much more efficient over the past few decades with the number of federal employees per 1000 citizens dropping from 14 in 1970 to 8 in 2010. It protects us from poisions in our rivers and foods, as well as from diseases and badguys, and helps Wall St. when greed and stupidity causes financial meltdowns. It also helps the sick and homeless and even other countries that are run by badguys. Goverment is not driven by profits but is focused on helping protect us. The current problem is more do to incompetent congressmen and lobbyist buying their votes. As the world gets more complicated goverment will become more important. Even my Fortune 50 company wastes a lot of money, not as much as the government, but the goverment does not have profit margins. So let's not hate our goverment, but work to improve it, not kill it.
