Gun Owners of America hints at armed revolt

Executive Director Larry Pratt tells Chris Matthews that government's "gone overboard," and gun owners should act

Things got real ugly real quick during Chris Matthews' interview with Larry Pratt on MSNBC's "Hardball" this evening.

The reptilian executive director of Gun Owners of America, last seen telling gun control advocates "they have the blood of little children on their hands," argued that we are "less free without automatic rifles," and need to stay prepared.

Matthews, who loves nothing more than hurling himself through cracked-open doors like this, was all too happy to oblige with a "prepared for what?"

Pratt: "To take on our government. [And this] government has gone overboard." He continued that it's time to take action "when elections are stolen."

Does this mean that the Gun Owners of America's 300,000 members are preparing to revolt?

Oh, swell.

They're headquartered in Newton, CT, aren't they?

Bring it on -- but please keep it out of the school yards of America.

Their real insurgency is against the NRA.

The NRA has earned the hatred of many.

John M. Lane says:
Why hate the NRA? The Newtown shooter wasn't an NRA member and he was using stolen firearms. The guy was a mad-dog killer and his victims were unarmed children and their teachers and other school personnel in a "gun free zone."

I have hated the NRA way, way before this. No need to explain for the hundreth time WHY I hate them, or why they bear responsibility, and I am not alone in my hatred of them. And, there are many more rady to take them down, now. This time is the last straw. This time I believe the NRA will lose its grip on this country, and good riddance to them. I believe this country is sick of these massacres and sitting around, doing nothing and waiting for the next time should not be an option. Best place to start is the NRA. Next the Gun Owners Of America...hope you heard their crazy Presidents comments on tv tonight. No point in you extolling their virtues to me. It fall on deaf ears. They are going to lose their power.

Thank you...I thought it was, too.

John M. Lane says:
Haters all have deaf ears, ThreeLittleKittens. You're welcome to hate anybody you want to hate, including the NRA.

If you honestly want to make our schools safer, however, you'll have to come up with an idea which will really work, not simply provide the illusion of safety like the "gun free zones". Mad dog killers don't obey the law, but you'd rather hate the NRA than the real killers.

"He continued that it's time to take action 'when elections are stolen.'"

So where was he in 2000?

We need to do anything and everything to make our schools safer...including an armed gaurd at every school, and very tight security. But, these shooting happen everywhere, not only in schools. We cannot protect every place. And starting with the NRA is a great option. We need to break the grip they hold on America. I think there will be enough in agreement to finally at least cripple them.
Yes, I hate the NRA...have for many, many years, and for many reasons that there is no point going into. But to say I do not hate the killers is a silly comment. All of us hate the killers. How could anyone not? You are making assomptions because you do not like my comments. Only hating the killers will not stop these killings...the NRA is going to have to stop their mindset about having as few restrictions as possible on guns. I think the country is going to be ready to demand that.

Hating the NRA isn't going to stop these killings either.

I mean, hate them if you want to, but realize it isn't going to be super-productive. Especially if you repeatedly decline to share the reasons why you hate them.

I think that it would be a wonderful idea for them to do that. Probably would take the National Guard all of 15 minutes to clean the National Gene Pool. The overall I.Q. of the US would increase by several notches. Plus, as an added bonus, all the "Preppers" would get to find out if their imaginary Magic Buddy in the sky actually DOES exist. It is what one would call a win-win situation...

Funny, I thought they already were revolting.

Without guns, those children would be alive today. Indisputable fact!

No, the National Sports Shooting Foundation is located in Newtown, just across the highway from Sandy Hook Elementary school.

It is hard for me to believe there are so many guns out there when I know there are so many who simply hate them. Do we live in Sparta? Who is coming to our shores with pillage on his mind?
