I was in McDonald's the other day and in between Gotye and Justin Bieber they played a short song/video by a brunette female singer. She had bright red lipstick and at one point she comes down stairs on a stage...there are 3 of coming down on the right, one on the left & one in the middle and she's wearing a red gown, a white gown, and a black gown. The video opens with a stage shot (in a club) and then a male dancer (perhaps outside the theatre) and ends with a tango-esque number at the end. At one point she's dancing with a Jon Hamm look alike...I'd be thankful for any help :)

Since I didn't see the video, can you think of ANYTHING about the song.....a line, a general sense of tempo, instrumentation, ANYTHING?

ps. This is just a shot in the dark (and I MEAN THAT) but when you described her as a brunette with bright red lipstick, I immediately thought of Regina Spektor and I never think of Regina Specktor unless her music is playing and I know it's her. (Yes, I do like some of her music and have an album or two) I'm not even sure I got her name right. I guess I'll check videos on youtube and see if she does one doing what you describe.

Ok, I went to youtube and plucked out a Spektor song entitled "Better" because the photo suggested multiple Spektor lookalikes....but, alas, no stairs and no stage. Just lots of "Spektor-like" women cavorting in a field. Not bad really but surely NOT your song.

Ok, I think I've given up on Spektor. I mean, she STILL may be the one in your video but I'm not getting it. I watched pieces and parts of about 10 of her videos and none have the necessary components. One was was a live version of "Dance Anthem of the 80's (Live in London) had her playing and singing on a stage and at one point superimposed her image to make it look like 3 of her. But no stairs and no guy. Foiled again!

Well if it's NOT Regina, there's probably 1000 other brunettes with very red lipstick that sing and make videos. Hope you find her. These images can become obsessions. I've told the story about how I thought I remembered 2 songs from when I was around 10....obscure rock n roll songs. I wasn't able to even determine that I hadn't made them up until about 3 or 4 years ago thanks to the net. Just for the record, they were "It's Obdacious" by Buddy Johnson and "Teenage Machine Age" by some singing group whose name I've forgotten again (I never remembere their name, only the song title and I FOUND IT on a compilation and promptly bought it. Now if I only can remember the name of the comp and how I filed it (back to the net!)

Thanks for your efforts ed! :) If it wasn't so loud in McD's I'd have heard more lyrics. It's a mid-tempo sultry shuffler and I, too, thought it must be Regina Specktor (even if I wasn't too familiar with her...but the singer did bear a striking resemblence). It's quite a stylish video. I'll keep youu posted if I find out. In desparation, I e-mailed McD's...I'd love to get the CD/song. Jim

More info: it's got a tango/rhumba feel and has a long horn break in it...the only lyric I can make out is some Ooo'ing.
