If you were stranded on a desert island and could have 2 CD's that you could hear endlessly? What would they be? No box sets. Just to let you know you would be found 4 years later!

Let The Church Rise - Bethany
Because I would need a christian album to keep my sanity with hopes of being found

Animals - Pink Floyd
So I could get in touch with the island.

E. Dill says:
Off the top of my head, I'd say

The Beatles White Album - variety of styles
Captain Beefheart - Trout Mask Replica

then again, I'd do just as well with
Bob Dylan - Blonde on Blonde
Neil Young - After the Gold Rush

I'm not sure why on either grouping. I'd want something with lasting power but whenever I try to think practically (like what are they being played on....an i pod with unlimited batteries?) I go crazy. Do I want something that is hopeful? Ironic? Humorous? Blusey? Reflective? Dirge-like?

Maybe I need incentive to find a way out of there. In that case, Meatloaf and Tiny Tim.

Hilarious as always Dill. Thanks for the laugh. I'll make sure the batteries stay recharged. I'm in charge of this "Lost" island.

Simple.
The Cure- 'Disintegration'. For all the times I would feel lonely and depressed. And ironically, for all the times I would want to feel like "home".
Daft Punk- 'Discovery'. For when I want to get in touch with my inner child or I want something to dance to.

Tough one. I would probably go with:

Greatest Hits - Queen.

Unleashed In The East - Judas Priest.

lotta good suggestions here. but a desert island? by myself?
well, I'd sure hate to have nothing but Jimmy Buffet CD's.
that would inspire me to consume mass quantities of salt
water. but for mellowing out to a certain degree and not
wanting to get too charged up about anything..( I mean I'm
STUCK here right?...rules out Quadraphenia and Led Zep 4)

standup and benefit by jethro tull. that's pretty mellow without
being anemic and pointless. I love Aqualung, but not for being
marooned forever without MaryAnn or Ginger, or anyone....

standup and benefit, I'll stick with my choice. thanks!

Only 2 CD's? I guess for a desert island I would want something really quirky and unusual that you could really get into. I would have to have something classical: preferably a copy of Messiaen's epic "VINGT REGARD SUR L'EFANT JESUS" (a difficult, mysterious, and very beautiful work for solo piano). Then I would probably include something weird like Yoko Ono's "FLY" or possibly Miles Davis' bottomless treasure trove "BITCHES BREW".

Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd (they say it's a concept album about absence. My whole life and all the people I love would be gone and I would be alone on that island. So it's very appropriate.)

After that I'm not sure. I guess it should be something happy to offset the sadness. Come to think of it, most of my music is fairly sad. Hm, what does that say about me? lol.

Um...maybe "Brainwashed" by George Harrison. That one's pretty cheerful in a poignant way. You know, because he was dying and all that. It's a feel-good album, though.

A Ricciuti,
What a beautiful song and album. Good choice.
I lost my father many years ago, he was my best friend and songs like "When September Ends" & "Wish You Were Here" hit home to me as well. Good post
