NYT crossword books-why so many?

I'm wondering how there can be so many anthologies of NYT crosswords, especially the sunday-only ones, if there are only 52 new puzzles a year. If a person does the puzzles regularly in the newspaper, wouldn't that mean an anthology would be filled with puzzles already done? Or is there some "catch" and the anthologized puzzles are not actually the same as the ones in the newspaper?
