Anyone have one of these and could let me know how it is working for you?

I have this machine. What would you like to know?

Just looking for a review on it. Have you had any problems? Did you get the computerized set up and do you use that enough to warrant the cost? Or if you are doing mainly free motion, how is that on this machine. Do you use a lazer light with pantographs in the back of the machine. My dealer did not demonstrate that and said it was hard to use that way. Just curious to hear from someone that has had the machine and used it since they have only been out since June.

Thanks so much,
Sandy

I don't own the machine, but I would love to. I took a class/demo and got to try out all the features. I don't even quilt and I want it! The class was free so....but I am hooked! It was extremely easy to work it. Now, I can't even look at anything less, though I am taking a Craftsy class on how to quilt a large quilt on a small (regular) sewing machine. I do have a quilt top that needs to be quilted but can't justify the cost of this marvelous machine.

We've had the P3 for a couple months. Mostly it has been great - lately we have been having some tension problems. We have a service agreement, so it is out for a checkup right now. Outside of that it appears to be an excellent machine. The one big drawback is that they have been promising to come out with rear control arms for pantographing, promising tem for the past four months - no sign yet.

We have owned a Megaquilter 9" shortarm machine for about five years now. We are upgrading to the Pfaff P3. Looking forward to having it delivered soon. We will want to do pantograms in addition to the Quilt Artist features. Hoping it works well as my husbands thinks he will prefer the familiar pantogram method.

How do you get a pattern repeated so it doesn't stop after each repeat? I want to do a continuous row.

I would like to talk with an experienced pfaff owner. Just a lot of little questions. Let me know if you are willing? I need a longarm quilter pal. Peggy

How do you do a pattern across the quilt and keep it from being distorted or having to stop, cut thread, as screen directs, then it will repeat just one. Oregon peggy

How much is this machine? I don't want to bother a dealer if it's way out of my price range.

Mine cost $17,000, with the computer robot. I like having the patterns available to use. Pfaff had a great deal. $200/mo with no interest for 5 years. Couldn't pass this up

Did you get your questions answered about using the continuous quilt pattern? I have had my Pfaff P3 and Quilt Artist design program for a couple of years now and am relatively comfortable with it. Betty

Peggy, how are you liking your Pfaff P3 by now? Got mine February 2013 and so thankful that our local quilt shop is very helpful in answering questions and giving free advice and instructions on tension, adjustments, etc. Still fuss too much over tension but finding out that most problems we operators can fix if we have a longarm buddy to mentor.

Sandra, did you get your questions answered on the Pfaff P3 longarm machine? We have this machine with the design auto quilt program with about 150 designs. Love it!

As far as free motion, I seldom use that feature since there are so many designs available. However, I have used the the "draw" and "save pattern" feature. Wow! Awesome. I wanted to personalize a quilt for cancer patient so "drew" wording and numbers and "saved" it as a pattern to use or delete in the future.

We did have handles installed on the back of the machine to use with a laser light. Hindsight, wouldn't do that again as I find the machine hard to handle (steer) from the back.

B. Gavin says:
What needle size do you prefer with this machine? I have been using 18s but am considering going back to smaller needle since the hole from the size 18 needle is huge and sometimes the thread has no place to "nest" within the quilt sandwich so pulls to top and back to bottom within a few stitches.

Any thoughts? Betty

Considering purchasing a used Pfaff long arm machine, a Hobby 1200. Does anyone know about this machine? The cost is $1300.

I am having problems with the bobbin tension. Adjusted several times. Works fine manually but not with regulated and with computer pattern. Help.

Gavin, what computer system do you have for your p3. Is there pantographs handles for this? I have had my machine for about 2 years and have not used it much.

Should probably know that answer, but admit I will need to boot her up tomorrow and find out what "system". The tablet is connected directly to the P3. It is probably time to update the system...... but that is another whole project! lol

About the pantograph handles, are you talking about handles installed on the P3 to self guide from the back? Yes, we did pay extra to have some handles installed in the back where the "table" is, but seriously, I have trouble steering! The machine is too heavy and the P3 moves kinda jerky with resultant unsmooth stitches so I mostly use the automatic pantograph feature, which I really like! Set the quilt area & pattern frame size areas, next choose your pattern, automatic size and merge, . . . presto - ready to quilt each row. Totally cool!

B. Gavin says:
Just checking in. Have you worked through the issues of the computerized patterns (sizing, merging, etc?). I really enjoy the P3 with the computerized patterns.

The tension is an intermittent challenge that seems to pop up just when there is time pressure to finish a project. Have started keeping a "trouble shooting" guide each time an issue pops up. Like M bobbins vary in depth that effects the tension, seriously!

Keeping in touch,

Gavin

I have a question about the cable that runs along the table and connects to the black power box. Underneath are some rollers that the cable threads through. Is there a wrong way to thread it
