I looking a new Home Theater Receiver with HDMI input/output.
I found Pioneer VSX-917V-K, but I read some reviews about HDMI connectors works only for video, and you wil have to use another cable (ie. optical) for audio. If you have a basic configuration like cable receiver, home theater receiver and TV, you will need 4 cables (2 for video + 2 for audio).

What home theater receiver do you recommend that works with HDMI connectors for audio and video?

Onkyo 705 will do anything you want. AllHDMI cables go to your 705 then from your 705 to your lcd. then optical from sources to your 705. BANG, YOUr ready for an experience

Except that what you suggested is specifically NOT what he wants.

The model which replaced the VSX-917V-K, the new VSX-918V-K does what you want (and lists for less money).

Do watch out, the 818 and lower are only HDMI video switches, but the 918 and 1018 do HDMI audio decoding and pass the video on to your TV.

That's exactly what I wanted to know.
