Yeah, I read that. Bummer.
I'll bring the chocolate if you bring the marshmallows. And maybe we can each BOOG (bring our own graham crackers)? I think they have 'em on sale at Fred Meyer's...

What about those who want to start a serious religion about discussions?

In reply to an earlier post on Mar 11, 2013 10:45:38 AM PDT
Ooh! I like the idea of that very much! What would you call such a religion? Rhetoricism maybe? Or Rhetoricianity? Or Debatology? And, like, what would be the tenets of such a church? And what would the hierarchy look like? Would there be, like, a Pope of Debaticism?

In reply to an earlier post on Mar 11, 2013 11:26:36 AM PDT
Max Flash says:
The Church of Debatology has a ring to it! The first tenet would be, "If you can think of anyway to disagree, do so, but be nice about it."

Wouldn't that be "BOOGC"?

Irish - Well, yeah, technically - but I liked the sound of BOOG better that BOOGC so I took some artistic license. :)

Rev Otter - LAUGHING OUT LOUD!!!

Pope Max - I think you have just founded a really cool church. Sign me up!

(I think they may already be. :))<--that is not a double chin - that is a smiley face with a parenthesis

S. Friedman says:
OK, so then I'm not the only one who's wrestled with the proper way to punctuate a sentence with a smiley.

So often I find myself trying to include a smiley within a parenthesis.
Is the smile and the right parenthesis the same mark? Do I risk looking anal or creating confusion by adding the extra parenthesis? Am I changing the meaning just a bit by making my parenthetical sentence into a non-parenthetical one? Have I devoted just a bit too much thought to the topic?

In reply to an earlier post on Mar 11, 2013 8:25:18 PM PDT
Cracking UP!!!

Seth, I am so glad to see your smiley face here. And so glad to know I'm not alone in my smiley face parenthesis angst. I've sometimes tried leaving off the last parenthesis if I have a smiley face, but then it just doesn't feel complete, and it just seems rude to leave people hanging at the end of a parenthesesed sentence without giving them closure.
