In fear of exile,
I will break from denial,
muse "soul" a while.

Though I have no "God"
You might think this a bit odd
to a "Soul" I nod.

It's my own theory
to share it, I feel leery
input's been dreary

But, what causes "Self"?
Can't put that thought on a shelf
Since before my twelfth

Synapse firing?
There's something inspiring,
more than wiring.

all you've ever known,
is consciousness that's your OWN,
within skin and bone

You're you, I'm me too...
so the conclusion I drew,
What makes YOUR thoughts YOU?

No way around it
and no one has yet found it
can we expound it?

What I can't conceive
is how "worship" grants reprieve
while others just grieve

A soul with no god
That prospect is not so odd
your skin's just a pod

So everything hence
that you realize now makes sense
death just jumps that fence

I can't fathom why
people can simply imply
death "opens" an eye.

I see a frontier
and once we get there from here
directions AREN'T clear

Death's just the next room
where your entrance was the womb
the exit's your tomb.

is the next room rife,
with the remnants of this life
or just brand new strife?

I simply don't see
why the next room's so easy
automatically

What is it that shows
it's easier where death goes
no one really knows

It's not fear of Hell
that's not the story I tell
or trying to sell

A parallel move
a jump to another groove
that may not improve

or something so new
where laws of physics aren't true
our skin might be blue!

Man's dreams are not sins
reincarnate alien's
fun one imagines.

Is death an off switch?
And no consciousness with which
to mourn life that's rich.

I've considered that...
But those thoughts under my hat,
leave me feeling flat.

Two things deploring:
- Living without exploring
- Dreams you're ignoring

That's pretty darn good Haiku-Harvey!

I am no poet
my haikus don't even rhyme
but that was sublime

I think that Soul is
seeing, hearing, feeling the
beauty around us

like on Soul Train or
that American Bandstand
show - with the "good beat"

Good deal. I'm not gonna try to make a poem of this as that is not where my talent lies. In fact, after reading these replies I think I'll just go away now! 8' )

A single orchid,
poised in lithe balance, and grace
what god could create?

encouraging words
lift me like the songs of birds,
...with verses in thirds! :oD

music I agree
very well may hold the "key"
the essence of me...

an orchid graced crypt
of an infant whose life slipped
why's god not equipped?

I'll revisit "soul"
and attempt to fill the hole
without some old scroll

The fun part's to muse
and take new ideas that fuse
with some of your clues.

So may I propose
that you submit your own prose
we'll see where it goes?

Haiku's not the norm...
reception will still be warm
if you post "free form"

Ahem.
Here is my musical rendition of Soul for your listening pleasure...or listening something... "pleasure" may not exactly be the right word... :)

music of the "night"
I love "phantom" nice lyrics
beautiful voice too...

my music theory
as it pertains to the soul
is the energy...

how the waves and tunes
harmonize into soothing
therapeutic tones

the sound energy
bonds with the soul energy
through vibrations

different vibrations
effect the soul energy
in various ways...

"different vibrations
effect the soul energy
in various ways..."

Ooh - this is good. Have
to think about it some more
soul energy rocks!

Like your poem H.H.

Shakespeare's Hamlet muses also that the dreams one might have through the sleep of death, or might not have, give ample reason not to hasten to readily into that repose.

In reply to an earlier post on Jan 8, 2012 3:13:17 PM PST
Dreams fascinate me
I rarely have them myself
or don't remember.

I think they occur
but recalling them is hard
sometimes frustrating

I often ponder
how my lack of recalling
relates to pre-life

the soul's memories
we can't recall before birth
why ever that is...

illusive dreaming
might escape our memory
for the same reason...

One brown Hersheys kiss
wrapped in the golden-sheen foil
my hand, can't stay still.

Justification
is something I always wel-
come. Thank you, Iggy! :)
