That's like that chick with that song "Call me Maybe".

OK, but I don't know why anyone would want to be called "Maybe".

Perhaps she can call her first child Maybe, since she likes the name so much.

It's sort of unisexual.

Hey Buck - did ya hear the one about the guy who kisses the girl good night at her door step and says "how about a good night immaculate conception" and she says "all right, good night immaculate conception" - somehow it was funnier when I heard it - maybe I got some of the words wrong.

Buck,

I think it has been used on college campuses, already ;-)

Or something close. Are you sure you are up to a college campus, again?

>>.....for He Who is Mighty, has done to HER, Mighty THINGS.....<<

That's a good pick up line. I might use it myself one day.

"Hey baby, you know I'm mighty and I could do some mighty things for you, so howsabout a little immaculate conception?"

jpl, As God was very specific about how His chosen dwelling place of old was to be designed, as it was to contain His law, (Exodus 25), all the more His Mother, as she was to contain the Author of the Law, for He Who is Mighty, has done to HER, Mighty THINGS, as Mary was saluted as being full of grace, even prior to the annunciation, (Luke 1:28, Luke 1:35), as Mary is the woman at emnity with satan. (Genesis 3:15), and as God intervened with John the baptist, who was filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb to announce the Messiah, God may have also, to a very high degree, graced Joseph in such a way, he who was to raise and nuture the boy/God. Peace always in the Most Precious Blood of Christ

That certainly helps I'm sure.

I would have thought your tongue would be sore from biting it while talking with it in your cheek!

>>Thus the tradition that Joseph was of the House of David may be something the Gospel writers just threw in because it fit the prophecy they were employing.<<

Are you implying that the gospels are expediant propoganda?

I can't believe that those holy scribes would try in any way to mislead us about such important issues. What possible motive would they have?

It must be true, God says so.

Could be.....it seems that it was very popular back then.

From my reading of scripture, the gospel writers did it all the time, and John the revelator went mad from it.

Ariex: That's all right, Bubba. IMO, jpl pulled the opening post out of somewhere.

Ariex says:
Buck Buckaw says: "But he was from the line of David, so that should have been enough, and evidently it was."

Ariex: Seriously, NT scholars conclude that the genealogies in both Matthew and Luke were fabricated. Thus the tradition that Joseph was of the House of David may be something the Gospel writers just threw in because it fit the prophecy they were employing. But considering that the Davidic kings had many wives and concubines, they would have produced many male offspring, who, being of the elite class, would also have had many wives and concubines, producing even more offspring, so, by the time the period of the Kings ended, many, perhaps most of the relatively small population of Judah could claim a connection to the House of David.

I pulled that term out of somewhere :) Foster is probably more accurate.

Bubba,

Should that be foster? Although I'd be willing to argue you are closer to "facts of life"!

Jesus could have healed him.

The bible isn't very specific on this point.

Mark Hubbell says:
Joseph was not Jesus' Father. God was. Joseph took Mary, who was already with Child, to be his wife.

Most of the posts following this one are disrespectful of the Gospel. But for those who have ears to hear, here is something wonderful. Michael Card wrote a beautiful song about the difficulty of this called "Joseph's Song." You can listen to it at this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oIOPAZMgck.
