Oh my heavens Good Humor - Toasted Almond Ice cream - my favorite! I was not by the beach. However I spent most of my summers in RI with my cousins, so I got quite a bit of beach time then! In high school, we would all go to Hammonassett (sp?) and swim - had to watch out for jelly fish. And Lake Quassapaug - Loved it!

Way too expensive to live there now. But I do miss my trees. Connecticut is filled with trees. East TN is close, but not quite enough!

When I left CT, 26 yrs ago, and moved to VT, talk about weather, the joke among us lower corporate life forms was that if you had to ask the rent, you couldn't afford it.

StevePL says: And nothing you write makes any sense to me. Oh well.

Allan: Knowing Lois as I do, and having read her posts over a very long time and seen her level of discussion where she matches others also well educated, at times even more knowledgeable about the Bible, I can well understand why you find yourself totally out of your depth, Steve.

a: How can I respect something I not only know does not exist but know the history of this metaphor's history?

spl: You know does not exist? Does Obama exist?

Lois: Do you read your posts before you hit the button? Honey, this makes no sense whatsoever.

SS: the emotions rule over the thinking, there is no pondering over or analyzing only the knee jerk respond.
There is no right, just everyone else being wrong.

How sadly true.

spl: It's one thing to "know" the Bible. It's another thing altogether to know God. As the Bible says, even demons "know" the Bible.

spl: No, Vicki and many other Christians in here are right. Lois is lost in space. Which means she fits right in with the atheists in here. ;)

No, the Bible says, even demons believe in the existence of God.

Why do you assume that only you and others just like you are the only ones who 'know' God? That is pretty arrogant to assume you are privy to every relationship God chooses to develop with His children.

spl: Because being born again is a common process among those with the Truth. Paul said we are all in a common spirit, that makes us being guided by the same Holy Spirit, to the same truth and understanding. There's only one path to the Father, and that's through the Son, as Jesus says. And we all know false teaching when we see it, and we can see the Truth in each other. It's not like we're individuals doing our own thing, we're all in the Body of Christ.

It's good how you're working hard to move past cheap shots and insults, like the kind you complain about so regularly when they're directed toward you.

Dearie, may I say that the atheists are a great deal nicer to this Believer than many of the so-called believers on this thread.

It is fine, Steve. You can't insult me with being lost in space. My universe is admittedly larger than yours.

Allan: Always was.

Ever since the shamans invented the term 40,000 years ago to describe their initiation.

Was still going when the Christians pinched the concept from the initiates of the Mystery Religions.

Nothing in Christianity has not been stolen from somewhere else.

Allan: A damn sight more than you ever will have.

Got round to reading on the Dead Sea scrolls yet?

I can recommend any number of authors, all of whose work *I* have read.
