I'm not so sure having a 77% approval rating regarding product says much of anything besides 23% of the people who voted disapprove of them. It certainly doesn't add anything useful to this discussion.

AC/DC still your favorite heavy metal band, doc? ;-)

truthfully, I do not know. It was an old article I read, so could be by now . . .

It takes all kinds to make the world go 'round...even closed minded people like you. You are attracted to who you are attracted to. Gays and lesbians can't choose to be straight any easier than you could choose to by gay.

This may be hard for you to believe McG, but I am not familiar with the music of AC/DC. ;-)

I have only read bits and pieces of this blog, and I believe this and all other actions you take in life is a free choice. When we were created we were given a gift no other species has and that was a free will. If you believe we were all born to be what we are today, such as a programed computer without a free will, then we would only be one small step above animals who are creatures of habit. If that is the case then why do we have prisons or rehab centers, if you are born to be a killer, rapist etc, and a burden on society, you should be done away with because you can never change. I know this is and extreme example, but we are all making excuses to cover our actions as is the norm today, it's not my fault. I have nothing personal against the lesbian or gay lifestyle if that is what they have chosen, but why do they have to shove it down our throats if we are not.

Doc says:
I see, so sexual attraction is a choice? Ok. Try choosing not to be sexually attracted to anyone and see how much of a choice it is.

LT Beasimer says:
First it is not a choice. But even if it was they have to speak up about the discrimination and hatred or suffer the consequences of a potential increasingly gay bashing society.

There may be a gay bashing society out there but I know I am not one of them but then what about all the christian bashers out there, who believe we should just keep to ourselves and are getting kicked out of every public arena.

Everyone is bashed by someone. Your words are not accurate, nor does your "sentence" make any sense.
(not bashing you, just saying . . . )

LT Beasimer says:
Can't speak much about Christian bashers, I have no problems with Christians. I have problems with hate mongers using the Bible to spout their vile misinterpretations in an attempt to shame anyone that doesn't believe as they do.

Being a biochemist, I have seen the studies done that show that genetics and hormones are what causes someone to be attarcted to the same sex. How it all works, we still are not completely sure. However a few things we do now.

One study that has turned out yeild results the same everytime is the stress study. Pregnant women under constant high enviromental stress have a 45% chance of having a child who will in fact be homosexual. This was first noticed when a doctor noticed that many of his male patients had confided in him that they were indeed gay. What did these patients have in common? They were all concieved and born during the last two years of World War II, and were all German. A highly stressful time. Similar studies have been done since in areas where the enviroment wasnt one where one would probably not want to be pregnant, and all yeild similar results.

As a scientist, I see no doubt that what makes a person attracted to a man or women (regardless of their own sex) is genetics. As a Christian, I say to each his own, and everyone should be entitled to a happy life. I know quite a few homosexual people (men and women) and many are some of the nicest people I know, especially morally. I also know many straight people who go to church, but have no chance at ever getting to heaven.

There is nothing wrong with being a lesbian. There is nothing wrong with civil unions of same sex couples. Everyone is entitled to life, liberety, and the pursuit of happieness are they not? As far as getting married in a Chruch. That should always be up to the Church and their docterine.

mackdog - lots of people are born with lots of things that are not their choice. Obvious ones are hair color, eye color, and skin color. Other variations have to do with how people's bodies metabolize various drugs and chemicals. There are millions of ways that one person differs from another without any of that variation being a choice. There are also emotional variations - some people are predisposed to be happy, others can be manic, and some are extremely depressed and need medication to function.

A lot of people have trouble understanding what they cannot see directly for themselves but what I was trying to do was move from the realm of things people can see to variations between people that otherwise most cannot see.

It really is an accepted medical fact that most people who are homosexual have brain chemistries similar to the sex they identify with and that are quite different from the brain chemistries of their own biological gender. Science believes that homosexuals can no more choose to be heterosexual than heterosexuals can choose to be homosexual.

Obviously there are some people who will have sex with just about anything that moves and we're leaving those out. There are also those that are homosexual but due to societal pressures will claim to be cured and will try to settle into a heterosexual lifestyle even though they are not. Others will try to isolate themselves from temptation in some way so that they become asexual rather than violating the norm that people such as yourself try to impose.

For most people - the vast majority of people - being homosexual is not a choice. Their brains were literally wired to be attracted to a gender that just so happens to be their own.

Because people are tired of so called Christians shoving their beliefs on us.

Merc Kup says:
I've never would say that they aren't born that way. THough it always gets me when people who want to claim homo/hetros are born the way they are. THey always seem to want to yell chice or preference when people have a more in-dept sexual desire more than another. So it seems they abandon the idea of people are born with their sexual attraction when the topics shifts elsewhere. Always seems very hypocritical.

" big book"..??? Is that the big blue book by Bill W???. Oh....the Bible... Superior humm... No, I was not going there. I like worms.
Nothing bad to say about worms.
I do not even dislike you. You are not much fun to converse with. All that clever poetry stuff is pretty much tripping me up. Name calling. Ouch. Think I hit my head so hard, I am at a lost for words...Not really. I am not gay bashing. Just making a point. So, is it hetero bashing when we promote homosexuality?? I want to make sure I add to the discussion and get the "yes" votes.
