Are you implying a doggie heaven?

Re: "Pascal's Wager...eh?"

Google or use Wikipedia. That should fill you in. Cheers.

No. That's just as absurd as people heaven.

So where do you want animals to go?

Don't know about the dogs

Ecclesiastes 9:5-6 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any [thing] that is done under the sun.

Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin [is] death; BUT THE GIFT OF GOD [IS] ETERNAL LIFE THROUGH JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD.

M. Russell says:
If there is no heaven, then where? Your initial question was "When they die do they just cease to exist? "

In reply to an earlier post on Apr 19, 2012 1:36:57 AM PDT
brunumb says:
So they cease to exist.
Thank you.

brunumb says:
If all animals just cease to exist when they die, then it is no stretch to consider that the same is true for the human animal. The invention of life after death and the mythical Jesus to provide it doesn't change anything.

M. Russell says:
Depends upon your faith really. Is that what you want to happen to you? Just cease to exist?

In reply to an earlier post on Apr 19, 2012 1:55:07 AM PDT
brunumb says:
What I want, and what will happen are not necessarily the same. Wishful thinking is time wasted.

Ants,
This is as convincing as an email from a Nigerian prince offering me millions if I help him with a difficult banking transaction.

Unfortunately for you, reality is not defined by what you would like to happen to you.

It's either God exists or He doesn't. It's either there is a heaven or there is none. Its either our souls are mortal, immortal, or immortality is as the Bible says the gift of God. What we believe cannot change truth. Says God, "For I [am] the LORD, I change not;..." Malachi 3:6. And I feel life will take on a new and honorable sense of adventure when we set out to find her [truth] wherever she leads.

Starts off OK.
We either have souls or we don't.
The Bible is true or it is not.
Believing in souls and Bible God cannot change the truth if that truth is that they do not exist. No fancy quotes can make any difference. If you write a story and you want everyone to believe it is true, you don't say things that will put them off. All you need is to get them to swallow the hook. If you construct your story well enough they will do the rest of the work for you.

>>>B. Josephson says:
In case you can't figure this out 1.2 billion is more than half of the 2.082 billion. <<<

You seem to not be grasping this.

The 1.2 billion is the number of Catholics.

The 2.082 billion number is the number of people of the Christian religion who are NOT Catholics.

If you add those two together, you get 3.282 billion.

I submit to you that 1.2 billion is LESS than half of 3.082 billion.

Your claim was that Catholics make up more than half of all Xtians. That seems to be false.

>>>B. Josephson says:
I don't have to prove "all" RCs believe anything,<<<

True.

Respectfully, B Josephson, all I am asking of you is to submit the polling evidence you have that more than half of all Xtians admit that the Bible is fallible, and contains errors.

I do not think you possess any such polling data.

I would be truly shocked to find that as many as 20% of the Christians on this planet would, if asked in a poll, say --"Yes, I admit that the Hold Bible is fallible, and contains errors." ........

........much less that more than half of them are of that mindset.

My personal guess as to how many Christians would answer in that way = >2%.

Response: From Wikipedia;

With around 2.2 billion adherents,[18][19][20] split into 3 main branches of Catholic, Protestant and Orthodox, Christianity is the world's largest religion.[157]

B. Josephson says:
A comprehensive demographic study of more than 200 countries finds that there are 2.18 billion Christians of all ages around the world, representing nearly a third of the estimated 2010 global population of 6.9 billion. Christians are also geographically widespread - so far-flung, in fact, that no single continent or region can indisputably claim to be the center of global Christianity

B. Josephson says:
About one-third of the American adult population believes the Bible is the actual word of God and is to be taken literally word for word. This percentage is slightly lower than several decades ago. The majority of those Americans who don't believe that the Bible is literally true believe that it is the inspired word of God but that not everything it in should be taken literally. About one in five Americans believe the Bible is an ancient book of "fables, legends, history, and moral precepts recorded by man."

Well, hopefully the percent of people who believe that every word of the Bible will continue to decline.
