When responding, please name your religion and list all types of people they hate - openly and covertly. This will help people choose the religion that is right for them.

Sadly, too many of your posts directed at me any way, have been without any love. I personally KNOW you hate LDS.

Yours in Christ, Brother Niv

I may not agree with some LDS policies, but I would not stoop to hating it.

Niv, you cannot "personally know" that I hate the LDS, because I don't hate the LDS. I don't hate anyone or anything, and especially no religion. I might disagree with you and the premises of your religion, but how you could go from there to hatred I have no idea.

When I read the Bible as a teen Christian it said to kill gays, children who strike or curse their parents, and nonbelievers - so I got rid of the Bible and its religions.

MLC says:
I'm a Christian. I hate anything that keeps people from knowing the Lord and living a rich life in him both in this life and the next. That means I hate sin and false religions (and that includes the LDS) and lies about God and Jesus.

And the Bible does NOT say that we should kill homosexuals and non-believers. I think you have confused Christianity with Islam. That religion commands that people get rid of those who don't agree with it.

Jesus said we are to love our enemies. He didn't say we are to agree with them, just love them. Loving people does NOT mean keeping quiet about their sin, their lostness, their need for Jesus. It's just the opposite -- we speak out because we have the answer to all the problems of life and that answer is Jesus Christ.

Bubba says:
In one of the bible verses that xtians use to justify their hate of gays, the bible DOES say to kill homosexuals:

Leviticus 20:13: "If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."

Deuteronomy 17
If there be found among you, within any of thy gates which the LORD thy God giveth thee, man or woman, that hath wrought wickedness in the sight of the LORD thy God, in transgressing his covenant; 17:3 And hath gone and served other gods, and worshipped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded; 17:4 And it be told thee, and thou hast heard of it, and enquired diligently, and, behold, it be true, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought in Israel; 17:5 Then shalt thou bring forth that man or that woman, which have committed that wicked thing, unto thy gates, even that man or that woman, and shalt stone them with stones, till they die.

Yes, the Bible also says to kill a rape victim if she's raped in the city because she obviously didn't protest loudly enough. The implication is that she "asked for it" or "enjoyed it" or made it up.

What do I hate? I hate it when the "good book" is used as a moral standard.

Why don't you begin by saying what types of people you hate, openly and covertly William.

So you could answer whether you started this thread because you hate certain religions.

It really looks to me like a thread where you start it, and then watch the fighting that ensues.

If I am wrong, please take part in the discussion, don't just start a thread then go away.

Best Wishes,
Shaamba Kaambwaat

I do not currently belong to any particular religion.

I am not one of those who feels superior to others by saying "I'm not religious, I'm spiritual." I'm one of those who feels superior to others by saying "I am not one of those who feels superior to others by saying 'I'm not religious, I'm spiritual.'"

I hold the unpopular opinon that religion has done more good than harm, whether one is speaking of religion as a whole or Christianity in particular. Yes, that's not a typo. I have no desire to see religion or Christianity cease to exist. I see religion as performing many positive functions in people's lives. My opinion is biased by the fact that no major catastrophes* in my life have been "caused" by religion, or by my previous membership in one. For example, no gay friend of mine has committed suicide or has been tied to a car and dragged to death "because of religion." No one I know has ever told me he/she was abused by a priest.

I do not hate Christianity or Judaism or Islam, however silly I may consider many of their beliefs to be. To say "this religion is sillier than that one" seems to be a waste of time. I do not hate Christianity because of witch hunts and Crusades, or because of the Westboro Baptist Church, or because Terry Jones or Pat Robertson says stupid things. I do not hate atheists because Dawkins or Hitchins says stupid things (although they phrase their stupid things in a very clever fashion.) I do not hate Judaism because they aren't allowed to eat bacon, or because of male circumcision, or because they killed everyone in Jericho (men, women, children, babies) per God's orders (allegedly). I do not hate Islam because 17 lunatics killed 3000 people. I don't hate Hinduism because of the caste system. I don't hate Mormonism because Joseph Smith made it all up.

I do hate robotic behavior and thought patterns. Religions do tend to cause these, but atheists and I myself are not free of these. By "robotic" I do not mean "logical," I mean "behaving like an inhuman stimulus-response machine." Think Pavlov's dog. And if your philosophy says "yes, we are robots," well, then I hate your philosophy.

*Depending on what you call a major catastrophe.

You can be smug all you want in your certainty you know the One True God, but please, the rest of the world really, REALLY doesn't give a crap and doesn't want to be enlightened, especially when they're trying to sleep.

Church of Jesus Christ of LDS are Christian

Thank you for your reply. I temporarily lost the thread. Just now I don't know if your reply is directed to me or to Nancy Davidson.

Whatever is true above, I don't hate any people nor peoples religions. I'm just alarmed by hatred. Even the LDS religion took to killing people at one time. You can confirm this with your many fathers.

This kind of thing is why I'm making this post. Hatred will destroy all of humanity if it is not overcome by loving souls. SOS No matter if a person believes in Christ or not. SOS Not just for me. SOS (save humanity).

People should forget about a god who would confine most of humanity to a hellfire for an eternity. This is hatred to the infinite degree. Such a god is a false god. When you are called upon to hate anyone by any religion, know that for sure that that is a false religion and is destructive toward all of mankind - even of all of god's work.

I agree with your actions.

The very foundation of Christianity is flawed. How can anyone believe that a cruel human sacrifice (even of a son of god) could be used to absolve people of their own cruel actions?

My hope for mankind is that evolution will work better, in the long run, for intelligent and kindly people.

Thank you Bubba:

The Bible scripture you have quoted IS the position of true believers who follow Jewish, Christian, or Muslim religions. They also believe in a god who will throw the majority of humanity into a hellfire for an eternity. Everyone should know these facts of scripture - up front. If a devil does exist, he would love the scriptures.

B. Josephson:

I am the William who started this topic.

I understand that all people are made of their genes as influenced by their environments and personal experiences. Because I know these causal relationships are true, I am unable to hate anyone. I don't even hate anyone who has harmed me. I'm just alarmed. It is also true that while I can forgive, I cannot trust people who hate.

I want humanity to continue forever. This desire is threatened by hatred. For this reason I am publicly expressing my views. I must speak up. And I do hope that people who love to hate will express themselves in debate with me and others. Some readers will come to see the toxic effects of hatred, both on themselves and on all of civilization.
