So that we can better communicate upcoming changes and answer customer questions about our forums, we created the Amazon Discussion Feedback Forum:

https://www.amazon.com/forum/amazon%20discussions%20feedback

The forum is designed to give customers a space to leave feedback about what they love and hate about Amazon's discussion boards (neutral comments are also appreciated!). Moving forward, we will also use the forum to announce changes in our guidelines/features so that customers are not caught by surprise.

If you have not already checked it out, be sure to stop by. We would love to hear from you.

I've started a 'Bring back Nietzsche's Girlfriend!' Thread on the new forum. Post there if you believe NG was unfairly banned.

I would like a way to directly access forums that aren't the most popular. If I want to check out psychology, I have to know a specific discussion title, which I won't know because I can't get to the psychology forum.

You can use the Most Popular Tags page by clicking the tag and you'll (with luck) find some discussions in a box scrolling down on the LHS.

There should be a link at the top of every forum to a complete list of all forums.

Fascinating that A-zon doesn't have a direct link to their own forum -- ya gotta copy and paste the thing. What's the world comin' to?

Astrin, I put I wanted NG back in the similar forum in the Christianity section.

The first vote was against it, but the second was for it.

I will give you another yes vote.

I am tired of one particular person following me around and insulting my posts. She has nothing to offer; just insults.

In reply to an earlier post on Jul 8, 2011 9:03:06 PM PDT
Ooh - and I bet she never lets on what her own beliefs are, right? She's not a Christian, not an atheist, but she's an expert on everyone else's beliefs and spends a lot of time ripping them apart, while not putting herself in a position where her own beliefs can be questioned? She sets herself up as an authority on what's going on inside other peoples' heads and hearts - when, in fact, she hardly knows these people. And when you try to pin her down to actually address a real issue rather than high school he-said-she-said stuff, she'll just wait until the post slips onto the second page before she appears again, and then she'll accuse you of being dishonest or "pandering" or being a sycophant or a bully leader. And she has a persecution complex - everyone's picking on her because she's so "honest" - when, in fact, all she is is opinionated and cranky. Is this the person you're talking about?

Actually, she is a voodoo priestess. She makes strawpeople dolls and names them after us and then sticks pins in them hoping to cause us pain.

I am getting quite tired of her following me around. I am now reporting her when she attacks me. Every time a great spiritual or religious discussion begins, she inserts herself in it and the discussion ends because who wants to be attacked? And, she attacks all--equal opportunity attacker.

Hey, that sounds like Nico.

Nico was rasied RC, but now is an atheist.

I found out her RC background because she started defending another RC who even many of the other RCs turned against.

Suddenly it was Nico's beloved church.

Actually, I know a couple of _hims_ too!

In reply to an earlier post on Jul 9, 2011 8:06:54 AM PDT
:)

Yeah, I've sometimes wondered if the "her" and one of the "hims" aren't the same person. Same basic MO - but the "her" is very anti-religious and the "him" I'm thinking about is very anti-atheist - I suppose they could be the same person, though - just taking on different superficial characteristics - both of them have a Catholic background, both of them have a persecution complex, both of them are inclined to call other people "bullies" (oh, the irony), and they both project onto others their own failings. They also both accuse people who are kind to others of being "dishonest" - like kindness and honesty are somehow mutually exclusive. And they both seem to believe that if you don't go around spouting off your opinions at every opportunity you are somehow lacking in courage.

But maybe they are both just classic examples of some kind of psychological profile?

It's all kind of fascinating in a detached, clinical sort of way...

I much prefer a certain kind of ahole over another.

"I see that a certain <MASSIVE LOONY PROJECTION!!!> is back in town."

Yes. I saw that, too. I have kind of missed him. In the detached, clinical sort of way. :) Fun times at the OK Corral, for sure.

There should be a LARGE link on the Amazon homepage that would lead directly to a directory of ALL of the forum categories. I realize that Amazon's primary business is selling stuff, but why even have forums at all if they're deliberately made hard to get to?

J.H.--That would be great. If they'd add that link to the directory instead of the 'Most Active' it might resuscitate unused threads. But I think they're attempting to cultivate some real time chat with the current 'Active' directories. It must give their employees something entertaining to view. :^)

RE: "That would be great...."

I have no idea as to what they're trying to do. No, wait - maybe they're getting ready to eliminate the customer general discussion forums entirely since they've deliberately made them so cumbersome to access. Of course, they would leave the product review forums intact since that helps them in marketing their various products.
