Thanks Gena. Those will do. Got any big cats band names? Like Cheetah or Cougar? Anyone else?

Gena Chereck says:
Well, there's John Mellencamp's original nom de rock, Johnny Cougar. :)

There's also The Cheetah Girls, but I think that was just a Disney Channel movie or something -- dunno if they're a real-life group.

I'm trying to think of some "tiger" names, but the best I can come up with is Le Tigre.

Michael Ary says:
Got the Cheetah Girls... it's the only one I could find. I guess bands don't go much for Cheetahs. John Cougar is a good add. thanks!

Ooh! Looking at the playlist for last week's 'Pseu's Thing With a Hook' (which I missed) on WMFU -- she played Miniature Tigers and Cat Stevens. :D

Michael Ary says:
Gena you are such a big help. Thanks! That Miniature Tigers is a great add.

I have lots of Tiger band names, like Fear of Tigers, Fond Of Tigers, Glass Tiger, and Tygers Of Pan Tang.

But, just one Cheetah and Cougar band name. If you (or anyone) come across any more please let me know.

Glass Tiger
1986's "Don't Forget Me (When I'm Gone)" is the band's most memorable hit single.

There was an Australian all-girl rock and roll band named Cheetah which was active from 1977 to 1982. Here's a link to the Wikipedia page.

Glass Tiger -- I'd forgotten them, too! ("Don't forget me when I'm gone...")

Some brief searching on Grooveshark turns up:

-- Cheetah Whores (they have a single called "Sharktopus")
-- Cheetah Chrome (Dead Boys member, "Life of Punishment")
-- Cheetah Chrome MF'ers (can't print out their full name; but they have an EP called 'Furious Party')

-- Cougar ('Law'; "Stay Famous")
-- Cougar Digital ('Sonora Santanera')
-- Cougar Den ('Keepondrifter'; "Speak Softly and Carry a Big Stick")
-- Cougarettes ("Apologist")

Does country star Kitty Wells count?

In reply to an earlier post on May 28, 2012 11:04:23 AM PDT
Gena Chereck says:
Good one! :) (Her real name is Muriel Deason -- she actually got her stage name from the old folk tune "Sweet Kitty Wells.")

Michael Ary says:
John C. Harrison - thanks... got Glass Tiger (see discussion above) and Gena told me about the all-girl band Cheetah Girls.
Also, Kitty Wells does indeed count for my cat listings. thanks for reminding me of her.

Gena! You found the jackpot for Cheetah band names! Thanks! I can use all of these. Thanks for the added info on Kitty Wells too.

Don't forget Def Leppard.

Gena Chereck says:
I just edited my earlier post -- Cheetah Chrome and CCMF are indeed two different acts (the former was a member of the Dead Boys, the latter are a hardcore band). *blush*

Thanks gdtunes! (for thinking of me... ;)

papercuts: something seemingly innocuous, yet so irritating. I hope this doesn't mean anything.

Looks like y'all forgot about the Screaming Cheetah Wheelies, presumably taken from a Gary Larson Far Side Cartoon.
