I don't think anyone pays attention to that anymore, so "Do Anything You Wanna Do"(Eddie & The Hot Rods)

I'm more disturbed by people who get tattoos on their face, neck and hands; aren't they worried about how this affects people's perceptions of them, especially potential employers?

luckily no one pays any attention to 'Us' here -Regina Spektor

When I was a teen I had my left ear pierced. It got me fired from a job at a department store, by my father no less! He said he didn't want no damn hippies working in his store. (But they lived in his home, lol!)
I was one of those that in the late 60s was not allowed into Disneyland OR Tijuana, Mexico because of my long hair. I was only 15 fer chrssakes! So appearance does speak for something, at least back then. We were making a statement, at whatever cost.

What is the 'statement' that todays youth is trying to make?

Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player

Signifying nothing. - Youth Brigade

I think it's funny when they say they're just being themselves, yet they look like every other nudnik, with their sleeve tatoos and their hoodies! Am I just being cynical?

Does anyone have a JBug "Code Breaker"? - The Sleepover Disaster

I agree Up2Late, it's the job of kids to find a way to PO the old folks. We did the same thing with our long hair, hippie culture, and music, which is now considered "classic", but at the time was the devil's spawn to our parents.

Based on their looks and music, kids today are doing a pretty good job, wouldn't you say?

I never paid much attention to whether it was fashionable or not, so, for me it never went away It seems that since the 80's, style has always been a bit of a mish-mash, with only certain fashions really considered trendy, and therefore, totally worthy of ridicule. Or is that just me?

Well, the "Tattoo" trend is pretty widespread - The Who

I can't really relate to it, call me old fashioned if you want. I remember the only time I saw anyone with tattoos as a kid, was watching the tattoo lady or man at the carnival freak show, and so I grew up thinking tattoos are sleazy. But if you want to make ALOT of money, come up with a patented way to remove tattoos easily and painlessly. Did Johnny Depp ever get rid of his Winona tattoo?

Good morning Up2Late! It's been awhile since we've been on here at the same time.

--- I'm neither here nor there on the 'tats' thing [I have none, myself]. I must say though, I have seen some absolutely beautiful works of art on peoples bodies! One thing that cracks me up is when people say "That's gonna look terrible when he/she gets old" Ya know what.... it's all gonna look like crap when we get old, so WTH!!!!

"Winona" Ryder - Drop Nineteens

Up2Late, I've been watching old episodes of Miami Ink on Netflix, and I was surprised at the thought and the story behind people's tattoos. So, who in this illustrious group has been inked, and what's the story behind it? :)

[Good point, Up2Late. So does that mean the American flag tattoo on someone's arm is going to end up with real waves in it?] :)

1. I bear no ink, but my cousin just got a real beauty on her back. It has so many elements to honor different people and things in her life, it's awesome!
2. A nudnik is Yiddish and means "relentlessly boring person".
3. I didn't really mean to be so critical of today's youth. I have many young friends myself.
4. Depp's tat orignially said "Winona Forever. He had it changed to say "Wino Forever"

Have I covered everything?
