... *cough* *cough*... Elvis did indeed write a bunch of his songs. Beyonce hasn't written any of hers... or any popular artist for that matter

Working Man says:
This guy is pretty missinformed.

The Beatles pre-dated the hippie movement and they were huge before they went hippie.
They sounded like they were on drugs or something, because they were (and that is not a bad thing)
I don't think they Beatles are in any way, shape or form forgotton.

Every generation thinks the next generation's 'big thing' stinks compared to their big thing. Not always, but it's not uncommon for Elvis fans to resent the Beatles, Beatles fans to resent the Led Zeppelin, Zeppelin fans to resent U2 and on and on.

Personally, I used to strongly disslike Elvis. I have grown to respect him, but I would still listen to the Beatles over Elvis. However, if Led Zeppelin were on, I'd listen to them over Elvis or the Beatles.

doodah man says:
Yeah, he hasn't shown up again, which equals "TROLL".
I didn't mean to turn that into a Beatles vs. Elvis-bashing thing, I like much of EP's music. They're apples and oranges.
This guy is just sooo annoying is all.

Here we go again with the Beatle-bashing threads. Beatles may be overrated, but they certainly do not suck. They were arguably the most influential pop/rock band in history, so that definitely counts for something, wouldn't you say, OP?

EP FAN 4 EVR says:
I grew up a Beatles Fan and still love them to this day, about 10 years ago I was introduced to Elvis and now really love him too. Music is music and who ever touches someone is important to them. Elvis Started Rock and Roll for the White Audience and kicked the doors open for it to become mainstream, and he was Generous to a fault, The Beatles took what Elvis started and Revolutionized it, both are equally important in the history of rock and roll and why some people have to put either of them down I will never know, both Elvis and The Beatles have brought BILLIONS of people happiness and what's wrong with that??

Disregard this clown. You can plainly see by the language used and the poor spelling that this is just some simple 7 yr old terd (spelling intentional) who's just "phishing" in order to create a controversy where none previously existed.

Bklyn-Born says:
"Mostly Forgotten"? Really? Doesn't "Yesterday" have the distinction of being the most-recorded song of all time (or something to that effect)? Aren't The Beatles still getting constant radio play, on stations of almost all genres? WTF??!!

sml17 says:
Well, let's see. In the 20th century you had

1. Al Jolsen, then
2. Bing Crosby, then
3. Frank Sinatra, then
4. Elvis Presley, then
5. The Beatles, then what?

In the 70s Elton John and David Bowie came on strong, but not at the same level of popularity -- well, MAYBE Elton; in the 80s you had Mijac and Madonna and Prince, also quite big, but not as big as The Beatles. You also had The Police and U2, both quite big, but not as big as The Beatles. And The Stones chugged along quite merrily throughout, but not as big as The Beatles.

And pop music pretty much died off in the 1990s -- or at least Rock & Roll did. Doesn't that about summarise it?

Venussansfurs speculates that "The Beatles may be overrated", but also that they're "the most influential pop/rock band in history". How can both be true?

You're disgracing the memory of The King with this nonsense.
