So, at the gym last night, I listened to Powerage in it's entirety, and a couple of songs in, I had the revelation, This is a great punk rock record. Simple, angry and tons of attitude. It might be the best punk rock of the mid-70s.
Any other "rock" records out there that deserve the punk rock tag?

Not as "punk" as the others from this time frame, but just as good (if not even better).

Good one Thomas, don't know that the AC/DC fans will dig it, but 999 is somewhat of an underrated punk band. I still have their first 3-4 records on vinyl and saw them live a couple of times way back when.

Emery, nice, AC/DC is a really musically simple band so i see what you mean. And they are more along the lines of the birth of rock n roll in the fifties rather than their overblown 70's sound. Just total energy and groove. So yea, there is a parallell. But their sound is, to me, blues through Australian attitude and these four guys, Bon, Angus, Phil and Malcom, and their unique chemistry.

I love Powerage it is on my list in my Amazon profile, such a great record. The most punk energy which to me is original Little Richard rock n roll energy captured on a record by AC/DC is Let There Be Rock. Just like a live band in the studio. But the songs on Powerage just are so cool. Love Powerage. Great idea for a discussion dude.

Yes Thomas Corpino and D. Sippel 999 great band loved all their albums up to Concrete. great live show, glad I saw them in the 80's.

Powerage is my favorite AC/DC album, don't know why but it is, its not punk but it cranks all the way through.
